The Freeport also draws the interest of a shadowy figure named Mr. Charles (Matthew Lillard), a CIA agent who intends to exploit Fisk’s questionable methods within the Mayor’s office to further the agency’s goals.
Okay, so things are really kicking off in New York – people are finally starting to fight back against this awful mayor. I, as Daredevil, am stuck having to team up with some seriously unexpected people. It’s got me thinking again about where I draw the line – am I really a hero if I’m breaking the law to do what’s right? It’s a tough spot, honestly.
Matt gets some help this season with Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) joining the story later on. However, viewers hoping for a lot of superhero appearances might be surprised. The show focuses on a realistic and compelling narrative for Marvel fans, prioritizing storytelling over simply including cameos and fan favorites.
Showrunner Dario Scardapane and the writing team have created a story that feels particularly relevant and impactful, tackling themes of fascism and corruption. While these are serious topics for a show centered around a character who dresses as a devil, they actually work surprisingly well within the dark and realistic tone of this Marvel series.

Daredevil’s new black suit isn’t just a style change; it’s a smarter way for him to fight crime. His bright red costume always stood out, which isn’t helpful when he’s trying to be stealthy around places like docks or prisons. The darker suit also reflects a shift in Daredevil’s methods. He’s always been a tough hero, but this season, he’s really letting go and taking a more aggressive approach to protecting New York.
The stunt team, headed by Philip Silvera, has done amazing work this season, delivering incredibly intense and realistic fight scenes. As Matt clashes with the Anti-Vigilante Task Force, the fights are brutal, with broken bones and serious injuries. He uses every weapon and skill he has, while the soldiers are just as eager to inflict pain, even on innocent bystanders.
Sometimes, the stories feel incredibly relevant to current events, which makes the Marvel Cinematic Universe feel more real and connected to our world than ever before. We see echoes of real-world protests and manipulation, but unlike in our reality, the MCU has a hero willing to take extreme risks for what’s right.
The show revisits Matt’s no-killing rule, but this time focuses on his personal growth rather than repeating past conflicts. He prioritizes the city’s well-being over his own pride, and it’s some of the most compelling acting Cox has delivered in his ten-plus years playing the role.

Season 2 heavily features Daredevil’s new black suit and a sharply dressed Kingpin, creating a visual contrast that hints at their differing morals. However, the season emphasizes that morality is rarely simple. It delves deeper into the characters, showing that even those we typically see as ‘good’ or ‘bad’ are more complex than they appear, blurring the lines between right and wrong.
As a fan, I’m telling you, Deborah Ann Woll is incredible as Karen Page. You can feel how much she’s hurting and fighting her own demons. But it’s Michael Gandolfini as Fisk who really gets me – he’s so torn between doing what he thinks he has to do for his empire and genuinely caring about his connection with BB Urich (Genneya Walton). It’s a really powerful struggle to watch.
It’s times like these that show the Marvel Cinematic Universe truly shines when it focuses on developing its characters with depth and substance, rather than just relying on special effects and big action sequences—though those are fun too.
