Twitch streamer-fisherman rescues struggling paddleboarder stranded at sea

A fisherman broadcasting his fishing trips on Twitch rescued a paddleboarder who was having trouble getting back to land off the coast of Wales.

EpicVoyages is a Twitch streamer who fishes for prawns and broadcasts live from his boat. On March 24th, shortly after starting a stream near New Quay, Wales, he noticed a single person on a paddleboard quite a distance from the shore.

Seeing the paddleboarder was worrying because the water was so rough and choppy – she had already fallen off her board.

EpicVoyages steered his boat toward the paddleboarder, who appeared to be out in some rough weather, according to people watching his live stream.

As he got close enough, the streamer was able to pull the paddleboarder, who was stranded, onto his boat.

People watching the livestream noticed the paddleboarder looked very tired and commended the streamer for helping her.

The paddleboarder repeatedly apologized to the streamer for disturbing his fishing, but the streamer kept assuring her it was no problem. He even refused the money she offered to cover his fuel costs.

She said she was vacationing in the area and had been out on the water the day before. She didn’t realize the weather would change so dramatically overnight.

After being rescued, people showed their gratitude to EpicVoyages with likes, subscriptions, and donations. However, Charlie immediately returned to prawn fishing, eager to process his latest haul.

EpicVoyages isn’t the only streamer to help someone during a live stream. In 2020, a Twitch streamer named robcdee saved a tourist in Tokyo from a suspicious follower by stepping in at a crucial moment.

In 2024, popular streamers Clix and Lacy played a key role in locating a Michigan boy who had been missing for three months. They were able to help after a lucky connection made during a live stream in Miami.
