A Street Fighter 6 tournament is gaining popularity online because it’s specifically for players age 40 and over. The winner will receive a blood pressure monitor as a prize.
While it’s already known that video games can boost memory and thinking skills, a new online tournament is taking this a step further. It’s designed specifically for older gamers, providing a competitive environment for them to showcase these benefits.
The Legacy Cup is a new online tournament for Street Fighter 6 players in Japan. It’s designed for players age 40 and up, welcoming both experienced competitors and those who play casually. Expect some tough matches, as many well-known professional players are now in that age group.
The Legacy Cup originally limited participation to 128 players, but that limit was reached within just a few hours. After increasing the cap to 256, it was quickly surpassed again, and now the tournament is open to 512 players. As of today, 397 players have signed up.
Street Fighter 6 tournament raises health awareness for players over 40
Dr. REKKA, a well-known figure in the Japanese fighting game scene and a practicing doctor, is organizing this event. His goal is to bring medical care to esports, making it as standard as it is in traditional sports.
Dr. Rekka explained on the tournament’s website that they organized it to honor dedicated fighting game players and to promote health awareness for people in their 40s and beyond.

The Legacy Cup is sponsored by companies like Mad Catz, Dunlop, and LaVISION. Winners will receive a variety of prizes, ranging from health and wellness items – such as Vitamin D, oral care products, and frozen meals – to a blood pressure monitor awarded to the most valuable player for making the best play.
