Fans getting ready for the new Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie will also want to watch the upcoming Marvel special, The Punisher: One Last Kill, featuring Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/The Punisher.
Scheduled for release in February 2025, “The Punisher: One Last Kill” will be the third special presentation within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, following “Werewolf by Night” and “The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.” Reinaldo Marcus Green directed the special and co-wrote the script with Jon Bernthal.
Why is The Punisher: One Last Kill required viewing for MCU fans ahead of Spider-Man: Brand New Day?
Details about the story are still secret, but “The Punisher: One Last Kill” will continue the narrative right after the end of the first season of “Daredevil: Born Again.” According to a recent post by scooper MAJESTIC_ucm on X (formerly Twitter), the special will also set up Frank Castle’s future appearance in “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.” It will explain the origins of his conflict with Tombstone and why he feels the need to protect Sadie Sink’s character, with hints suggesting viewers should pay close attention to the details.
I’m really excited to see Jon Bernthal back as the Punisher, and it’s amazing he’s the only actor confirmed to be in both ‘The Punisher: One Last Kill’ and the new ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’! Plus, MAJESTIC_ucm has teased that something big happens after the credits – apparently it involves Jean Grey and Damage Control. Everyone’s hoping Sadie Sink will show up as Jean Grey, and there’s a lot of buzz about her playing the part in the next Spider-Man movie, but it’s still unconfirmed.
The cast of ‘One Last Kill’ includes Jason R. Moore, returning as Curtis Hoyle from ‘The Punisher’ on Netflix, along with Roe Rancell and Mila Jaymes. A well-known villain from ‘The Punisher,’ Ma Gnucci, is also expected to be in the Disney+ special. While not officially confirmed, many fans believe veteran actress Judith Light will play the role of the female crime boss, with reports of her being seen on set in August 2025.
As a huge Marvel fan, I’m thrilled to hear that The Punisher: One Last Kill is hitting Disney+ on May 12th! And get this – Jon Bernthal is coming back as Frank Castle in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which is scheduled for theaters on July 31, 2026. Both of these are part of the exciting Phase 6 of the MCU, so I’m already counting down the days!
