People will do anything to protect their families, and the new trailer for The Furious shows just how far they’ll go. The film features intense fights with anyone who gets in the way. Early reviews have called it a masterpiece and one of the best action movies in years, and the full trailer proves those claims are true. The Furious truly delivers on the hype and is an incredible action thriller.
Action veteran Tanigaki Kenji, known for his work as a fight choreographer on films like Raging Fire and Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In, directs The Furious. The film boasts an impressive cast of actors and martial artists, including Xie Miao (My Father Is a Hero), Joe Taslim (The Raid, Mortal Kombat), Jeeja Yanin (Chocolate, Triple Threat), Yang Enyu (Eye for an Eye 2), Brian Le (The Brothers Sun), Joey Iwanaga (Rurouni Kenshin: Final Chapter Part I – The Final), and Yayan Ruhian (The Raid, The Raid 2). Lionsgate has released the first trailer for this non-stop action movie, which you can watch below.
When a criminal gang kidnaps Wang Wei’s (Xie Miao) daughter and the police refuse to help, he takes matters into his own hands, determined to rescue her. He finds an unexpected partner in Navin (Joe Taslim), a determined journalist searching for his missing wife. Together, driven by anger and a thirst for justice, they unleash a brutal fight against the kidnappers in a thrilling martial arts battle.
The trailer for The Furious quickly establishes the basic story: a father witnesses his daughter being kidnapped. The film, reminiscent of Taken and The Raid, follows his relentless pursuit to rescue her, and he’s prepared to eliminate anyone who stands in his way. Despite the intense action shown in the trailer, the premise is straightforward: a father with a unique skillset will stop at nothing to save his daughter.

With raw, intense action that feels incredibly real, the footage for The Furious shows this thriller will deliver on its promise. Xie Miao plays an ordinary tradesman who’s surprisingly good with a hammer – but he uses it to take down opponents, even managing to fight off multiple attackers in a unique and chaotic brawl.
Building on the incredibly intense and brutal fight choreography that made The Raid and The Raid 2 modern action classics, The Furious is scheduled for release in theaters on May 29, 2026. It premiered at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival last September to rave reviews, earning a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Even after seeing the first trailer, fans are eagerly awaiting its arrival – it can’t come soon enough!
