Prepare to swoon as Wuthering Heights will be available to watch at home very soon.
Emily Brontë first published her novel, Wuthering Heights, in 1847, using the name Ellis Bell. Though it was initially criticized for its harshness, the story—set on the Yorkshire Moors between 1771 and 1802—is now a well-loved classic. It explores powerful themes of love, passion, revenge, and social standing. With numerous adaptations already made, Emerald Fennell’s recent version of the novel is currently generating a lot of discussion.
Warner Bros. is releasing Emerald Fennell’s film Wuthering Heights digitally in North America on March 31st. You’ll be able to rent or buy it on platforms like Prime Video and Apple TV. The movie, starring Margot Robbie, Jacob Elordi, Hong Chau, and Martin Clunes, has already earned over $230 million worldwide.
As a huge film fan, I’m thrilled to hear that Wuthering Heights will be available for us to own on May 5th! It’s coming out on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD, which is fantastic. Even better, some editions will include special features, like commentary from the writer, director, and producer, Fennell – that’s a real treat for movie lovers like me!
Emerald Fennell’s adaptation of the Brontë novel received very mixed reactions. Critics gave it a 57% score on Rotten Tomatoes, while audiences rated it much higher at 76%. While some critics praised the “undeniable chemistry” between Robbie and Elordi, and highlighted the film’s “dazzling visuals” and “wildly sexy” atmosphere, others felt it was a film you’d either love or despise. When asked about her approach to the classic story, Fennell explained:
Love, like this book, doesn’t really have a beginning or end – it’s a continuous cycle. Even when things feel completely finished, like after a heartbreaking loss, it’s not truly the end, but rather a continuation of the cycle. That’s what this book really explores.
It explores the intense emotions people experience, going beyond just the surface level. That felt like the most fitting conclusion to the story, for me.
Wuthering Heights will be available to buy digitally on March 31.
