Reimagined MMORPG EverQuest Legends set to launch for PC in July 2026

Daybreak Game Company and Game Jawn have revealed EverQuest Legends, a fresh take on the original EverQuest from 1999. Players can expect the game to launch in July 2026, with a closed beta test starting in April.

Both EverQuest (1999) and EverQuest II (2004) are still played and receive updates, but they’ve changed a lot over the past 27 years. EverQuest Legends is designed to recapture the original game’s look and feel, offering a more relaxed experience with new features. Players can enjoy it on their own or with a small group of friends.

EverQuest Legends aims to recapture the classic look of the original game while also making it more accessible to modern players. It includes helpful features like the ability to switch between three classes with a single character and ways to easily upgrade your gear. Daybreak Games wants both longtime fans, returning players, and newcomers to enjoy the experience.

I recently met with producer David Youssefi and the team behind Game Jawn at GDC 2026. They shared their plans for their nostalgic MMORPG, EverQuest Legends. Daybreak Games and Game Jawn are excited to announce a partnership with fans to bring a fresh take on the original EverQuest. Eda Spause, who founded Game Jawn, has been playing EverQuest since the game launched in 1999 and has always been a part of its fantastic community. She says her team is thrilled to be working on the game they’ve loved for so long, and to be able to contribute to its world.

EverQuest Legends is planning a closed beta test in April before it officially launches in July 2026. Players who want to try it out early can sign up for the beta at EverQuestLegends.com.

EverQuest Legends Overview

EverQuest Legends is a fresh take on the original EverQuest, the classic game from 1999. It keeps all the charm and memories of the original, but adds a lot of new features and improvements to make playing easier and more enjoyable. A key focus of EverQuest Legends is to welcome players who prefer to play by themselves or at a relaxed pace. While you can still team up with others in groups of up to four, or tackle raids with up to eight players, the entire game is designed to be fully playable and enjoyable even if you prefer to go it alone.

EQL lets you build incredibly strong characters by combining up to three different classes – like a rogue, paladin, and wizard all in one. You can also enhance your weapons and armor in new ways. As you gain experience and better equipment, you’ll be able to tackle the game’s toughest challenges, either by yourself or with a small team.

EverQuest Legends lets both longtime fans and newcomers experience the world of Norrath like never before! It launches with the original Antonia content (before the Kunark expansion) and all the playable races – including Iksar, Frogloks, and Kerran – all with the classic EverQuest look and feel. You’ll enjoy the familiar graphics, zones, spells, items, and music, plus a few exciting new additions!
