Kick streamer N3on detained by police during live-streamed swatting

I was shocked to hear that N3on, one of my favorite Kick streamers, and Benjy were stopped by the police while they were just walking down the street in LA on March 22nd. It was so random!

The officers told both streamers to kneel and put their hands behind their heads. The two creators obeyed, and N3on mentioned he believed they were likely receiving a false emergency report – often called ‘swatting’.

Officers swiftly led them to waiting police cars while their group continued to broadcast the event to over ten thousand people watching online.

After being held briefly, N3on and Benjy were released. Police stated they were just taking necessary steps to ensure everything was under control.

One of the officers explained, “We probably had to ask, since this happens frequently. It’s just standard procedure.”

N3on shared that the police have shown up at his location multiple times, even as late as 5 AM. He described incidents involving helicopters, drawn assault rifles, and a door being broken down. He added that despite reporting these issues, the police haven’t taken action, and he feels it’s a waste of everyone’s time and resources.

The video of the incident quickly spread online, and people were amazed by how calmly and responsibly N3on reacted to the scary situation.

Swatting continues to be an occupational hazard for streamers

Sadly, many popular online content creators are often targeted by ‘swatting.’ This dangerous prank involves falsely reporting a serious crime to the police, like claiming someone is threatening harm to themselves or others, with the intent of triggering a large emergency response at their address.

It’s honestly scary how many big streamers have been targeted by this – even guys like Ludwig, IShowSpeed, Kai Cenat, and Adin Ross have all dealt with it. It feels like no one is safe!

Recently, a Roblox YouTuber named KreeCraft was falsely reported to emergency services (a practice known as ‘swatting’) and received death threats. This happened because of a game he was developing, even though he hadn’t publicly revealed it yet.

Before this incident, popular Minecraft streamer Tubbo was the target of a ‘swatting’ attack during a live event in Brighton. Someone falsely reported to the police that he had a knife and drugs, prompting a response. Police investigated but found no evidence of any crime and determined that no one had done anything wrong.
