Okay, so get this – there’s only ONE of these things out there, and the company said it’s totally first-come, first-served! To find it, you just have to head to your local store and say the secret password. But here’s the kicker: GameStop and Skittles aren’t giving ANY clues about where it might be hidden. It’s a real treasure hunt!
Skittles announced a giveaway on Instagram: a special “Skittles Gaming Flute.” They hid one flute in a GameStop somewhere in the lower 48 states, and told fans to visit a store on March 23rd and say the phrase “CONTROL THE RAINBOW” to claim it. Whoever finds it gets to keep it!
This in-store activity follows the recent introduction of a special flute controller. Players use their breath and finger movements on the flute to control the game.
This controller was previously tested in a unique streaming event with creator PointCrow. It’s different from standard controllers because it lets you control the game by actually playing a real-world instrument – your performance on the instrument directly affects what happens in the game, meaning you have to physically play to move forward.
The GameStop giveaway is the newest part of the promotion, moving the contest from creating online content to a real-world hunt for the single available item.
