On March 19th, Dakota Mortensen, the ex-boyfriend of Taylor Frankie Paul – known from The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives and previously considered for The Bachelorette – filed a protective order against her. This came after an incident that happened between them on February 23rd and 24th, which already paused production on the fifth season of Mormon Wives as of March 16th. Court documents show Mortensen claims Paul choked and hit him during a fight that woke their son, Ever. He left that night and returned the next day, where another argument allegedly turned physical, with Paul throwing a drink at him. Mortensen states he sought the protective order to protect himself and their child.
In 2023, Paul was arrested and convicted of aggravated assault following an altercation with Mortensen. A video of this incident surfaced on March 19th, and as a result, ABC has decided to postpone the upcoming season of The Bachelorette.
