28 Years Later: The Bone Temple finally gets a streaming release date on Netflix.
The new horror film, a sequel to 28 Years Later (2025) and the fourth in the series, came out in January. Despite positive reviews, it didn’t do well financially, earning only $57.9 million worldwide on a $63 million budget.
Fans can now stream 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple on Netflix in the U.S. starting March 31st. The film was first released for digital purchase or rental on platforms like Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home on February 17th, and physical copies (4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD) will be available on April 21st.
Nia DaCosta (known for Candyman and The Marvels) directs the new film, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, with a script once again by Alex Garland. The story picks up with Spike, who finds himself caught up with the sinister cult led by Sir Lord Jimmy Crystal. Meanwhile, Dr. Kelson unexpectedly connects with Samson, one of the highly aggressive Alpha Infected.
The cast of ’28 Years Later: The Bone Temple’ features returning actors Ralph Fiennes, Jack O’Connell, Alfie Williams, and Chi Lewis-Parry. Joining them are new cast members Erin Kellyman, Emma Laird, Sam Locke, Robert Rhodes, Ghazi Al Ruffai, Maura Bird, Connor Newall, Louis Ashbourne Serkis, Mirren Mack, and David Sterne.
Critics loved 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, giving it a 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. They especially praised how the film seamlessly continued the story from the previous installment, while also increasing the intensity and suspense. Nia DaCosta’s direction was particularly chilling, and both Ralph Fiennes and Jack O’Connell delivered excellent performances.
Viewers also loved The Bone Temple, giving it an 88% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. They described it as a powerfully disturbing film that’s hard to look away from – a raw and intense experience, but one that still feels surprisingly human.
While 28 Years Later earned $151 million globally on a $60 million budget – a reasonable, though not spectacular, result – its follow-up, The Bone Temple, was a box office failure. Despite this, plans are still moving forward for another sequel to finish the new trilogy.
Despite not performing well in cinemas this January, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple is expected to be much more successful on Netflix, where people can easily watch it at home.
