A London pub recently hosted a heartwarming event: a group of fathers came together to learn how to braid their daughters‘ hair, and the story has quickly spread online.
The “Pints & Ponytails” event was hosted by the Secret Life of Dads, a community for fathers, and took place at the Lucky Saint pub in London.
About 35 dads learned how to do ponytails, braids, and other hairstyles from professional stylists, and they enjoyed drinks and chatted about being parents while they practiced.
Most of the fathers came by themselves, but they quickly connected with each other because they all wanted to learn how to braid their daughters’ hair.

Just under three weeks ago, a small group of ten dads met at The Lucky Saint pub. Last night, that number grew to thirty-five! The group shared the news on Instagram.
Nearly all the fathers attended by themselves, but they all shared a common goal: learning how to style their daughters’ hair. The event turned out to be a truly heartwarming and memorable experience for everyone involved!
Okay, so my friends at Braid Maidens totally taught a bunch of dads how to braid! They started with the basics, and we all got to practice on mannequin heads – everything from easy ponytails to some pretty intricate braids. It was actually a lot harder than it looks!

This workshop aimed to do more than just teach a skill; it also provided a comfortable environment for fathers to connect, share their experiences with parenting, and offer each other support.
The organizers noted a definite sense of anticipation and even nervousness when fathers entered the room. While the workshop focused on learning hairstyling techniques, something more meaningful was happening. They described the bonding and openness between the dads as truly special to witness.
It’s common to hear that men don’t share their emotions openly, but that wasn’t the issue in this situation.
