Filming for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to start next month, and more actors from the Marvel Cinematic Universe are being confirmed to return. The newest addition to the cast is Tatiana Maslany.
Tatiana Maslany hasn’t appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since the She-Hulk: Attorney at Law finale in October 2022. In the Disney+ series, she plays Jennifer Walters, also known as She-Hulk, and the show follows her as she tries to manage her career as a lawyer with her life as a superhero.
Many Marvel fans hoped Tatiana Maslany’s She-Hulk would become a prominent character in the MCU, but she hasn’t appeared in anything for four years. Interestingly, Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi, who hasn’t been in a live-action movie since 2021, has still appeared in animated Marvel series like What If…? and Marvel Zombies.
There were concerns She-Hulk would end up like the original Hulk – introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe but then rarely seen for years while Marvel Studios decided how to use the character.
Some fans speculated that Tatiana Maslany, who plays She-Hulk, wasn’t included in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie because she didn’t want to work with Disney anymore. This idea gained traction after she publicly called for people to stop supporting Disney when they temporarily took Jimmy Kimmel Live! off the air last September.
Maslany appeared to dismiss the rumors while on the Comedy Bang Bang podcast, jokingly stating she had already left the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
I was recently asked by Disney to reprise my role as She-Hulk, but I declined. I’ve already played the part, and that’s simply the truth, which you can find reported in various articles. I was very upset with Disney for allowing me to file a lawsuit against them, and for removing me from the movie. Honestly, I was just angry overall. I even sarcastically questioned their decision to cast a woman in the role, saying it was ‘disgusting’ and that I was ’embarrassed’ to be associated with it, as I discussed on the podcast.
Avengers: Doomsday will feature She-Hulk despite Tatiana Maslany’s past issues with Disney
So, I was watching Everything Always – that YouTube channel run by Michael Roman, who’s a really good entertainment reporter – and he said that Tatiana Maslany, who I’m a huge fan of, is going to be joining Sam Wilson’s new Avengers team in the upcoming Doomsday movie. Pretty exciting news if it’s true!
Fred Maslany is the fourth actor confirmed to reprise their role in Avengers: Doomsday. This follows reports on March 9th from MAJESTIC_ucm that Brie Larson (Captain Marvel), Teyonah Parris (Monica Rambeau), and Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch) will also be returning.
Following the events of Thunderbolts*, Avengers: Doomsday unfolds 14 months later. The screenplay was penned by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely, and Joe and Anthony Russo directed the film. Robert Downey Jr. reprises his role as Victor von Doom, also known as Doctor Doom, leading a large cast of returning characters.
Okay, so I just heard the news – Avengers: Doomsday is officially coming out December 18th, 2026! It’s going to be a big part of Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and honestly, I’m already counting down the days.
