‘Man of Tomorrow’ Adds ‘Lanterns’ Star Aaron Pierre

Following the releases of Supergirl and Clayface in 2026, DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran will continue their cinematic universe in 2027 with Man of Tomorrow. The film will feature Lars Eidinger as the villain Brainiac, forcing David Corenswet’s Clark Kent and Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor to work together to save Earth. While this unlikely team-up will be central to the story, many other popular DC characters will also have significant roles in the sequel to 2025’s Superman.

Joining David Corenswet, Nicholas Hoult, and Michael Eidinger are familiar faces like Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., and Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, along with other actors from previous DC films. While details about new characters besides Brainiac are still under wraps, recent news suggests another significant character will play a key role in the story.

Aaron Pierre will be returning as Green Lantern (John Stewart) in the new movie, Man of Tomorrow, according to The Hollywood Reporter. This marks his second time playing the character in the DC Universe, after first appearing as John Stewart in the Lanterns series on HBO Max this August.

The report didn’t share any specifics about what John Stewart will be doing in the film. Shooting is scheduled to start in August and continue through next summer, with the movie expected to come out in July 2027. By that time, Stewart will have been a Green Lantern for a while, having only begun his training with Hal Jordan (played by Kyle Chandler) and the Lanterns series a couple of months prior.
