It’s a mystery why Taylor invited Ben, a singer she met on TikTok, to her Utah home just before filming The Bachelorette. But everyone seems to be agreeing, without even discussing it, to just accept her choice, even if it doesn’t make much sense. And that’s probably a good thing! Trying to understand Taylor’s relationships has never been helpful, and sometimes even backfires, costing people followers. Miranda notes that MomTok wants Taylor to do well on the show, and since Dakota is likely to cause problems, it’s best to keep Taylor focused – or distracted – until she’s safely filming with her potential suitors.
I don’t have a friendship with Taylor, and my career isn’t dependent on her, so I can be completely honest. Honestly, I’m confused. Specifically, I’m wondering why Ben is even here. We can talk about the situation with Dakota later.
“The Book of Secrets” continues the story right after “The Book of Taking Flight,” with Taylor meeting Ben – a singer she developed a small crush on through TikTok – at the airport. While this could signal Taylor is moving on, the show constantly reminds us she could just as easily be there to obsess over Dakota. Plus, with their relationship tied to the show’s filming schedule, it’s hard to know if Taylor is truly invested in Ben.
Ben already knew Taylor would be the next Bachelorette, and he awkwardly went along with the fake rose ceremony Jessi planned in Taylor’s house, which was full of social media moms and their babies. It seems like he’s more interested in promoting his music platform than finding love. When it comes to The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, you can’t ignore what’s happening behind the scenes – it’s often the source of the show’s drama, and everyone is very aware of the cameras. For example, Demi isn’t doing interviews this season, so the producers are simply asking her questions and letting the silence speak for itself.
I joked that all the moms from TikTok were at Taylor’s house to meet her online date, but that’s not entirely accurate – Whitney and Jen are still in Los Angeles, just enjoying life. While I was hoping to see more of their unique living situation – two Mormon couples, six kids, an assistant, and several nannies all living together would be perfect for a quirky, low-budget TV show – their friendship has a better chance now that Jen’s family has moved out of Whitney’s place. It’s also nice to see people being kind to Jen for a change. But one friendship that definitely won’t last? Jessi and Demi’s, even with their energy healer, Gabi, trying to help.
When Mayci and Mikayla returned to Taylor’s house, they stepped away to take a call from Mayci’s husband, Jacob, who they thought would fill them in on everything happening at the villa. However, Jacob completely lied, insisting that Dakota hadn’t been intimate with anyone. Mayci immediately knew he was being dishonest, and after some pressure, Jacob changed his story. He claimed he wasn’t sharing details because he felt Mayci and Mikayla didn’t have appropriate boundaries with their friends. Frustrated, Mayci and Mikayla ended the call.
It’s clear the men involved have agreed to keep quiet about what happened at the villa. Zac confessed “some crazy stuff went down” to Jen, but refused to elaborate, saying he’d been asked not to share details. Surprisingly, he didn’t try to blame anyone else, which is high praise for Zac. Chase and Mase were even more unhelpful when Layla picked them up, simply ignoring her questions. Only Jordan couldn’t keep the secret; he immediately told Jessi about a four-way kiss Dakota shared in the hot tub and that Dakota left with one of the girls. Despite trying to claim it was confidential, Jordan quickly repeated the story to Mayci and Mikayla as soon as he got home.
The biggest problem with Jordan sharing Dakota’s secrets is that it gives Chase a chance to publicly criticize him, especially during their get-together afterwards. After some playful banter about Jordan sleeping on the couch, Jordan explains he told Jessi everything because he felt loyal to her. Chase calls this a mistake, pointing out that now the guys won’t be able to trust Jordan with anything, as he’ll immediately share it with his wife. Chase then insists Jordan apologize to Dakota, sarcastically remarking on the irony, referencing a time when Jordan pressured Chase to take responsibility for his actions at a Halloween party. Jordan claims he was just trying to protect his marriage, but he does offer an apology.
I’ve been confused by all the drama. It seems like a lot of fuss over two single adults having a consensual encounter, especially since it happened at a property owned by Lisa Vanderpump. Considering Taylor is the Bachelorette, it’s widely believed that learning about Dakota’s actions in the villa will devastate her – and it does.
If Taylor simply asks Jessi if Dakota was intimate with anyone else in the villa, Jessi will immediately confess that he was. Overwhelmed, Taylor breaks down crying in Jessi’s closet and then decides to call Dakota herself, a move that seems questionable.
