Pro bodybuilder breaks down Chun-Li’s iconic physique to see if she’s “past her prime”

Kyohei Nakagawa, a bodybuilder, social media personality, and voice actor, recently examined Chun-Li’s character in Street Fighter 6 to assess her physical condition and see if she remains in top shape.

Chun-Li is a legendary video game character, instantly recognizable to gamers worldwide. She’s incredibly popular online too – in fact, Google searches for Chun-Li are second only to those for Princess Peach among female game characters.

For the past 35 years, Chun-Li has been a groundbreaking and inspiring figure in gaming. As the first female playable character in Street Fighter, her quick kicks and strong legs have motivated players to get in shape.

Although the developers playfully avoid revealing her age, Chun-Li was born on March 1, 1968, in Street Fighter II, making her 57 or 58 years old by the time Street Fighter 6 was released. This means she appears remarkably youthful, which even prompted a professional bodybuilder to examine her physique.

Bodybuilder analyzes Chun-Li’s physique from SFV to SF6

On March 12, 2026, bodybuilder Kyohei Nakagawa shared a detailed analysis of how Chun-Li’s body changed between Street Fighter V and Street Fighter 6, specifically focusing on her portrayal as an Interpol officer.

I was reading an analysis, and it really struck me how powerful Chun-Li looked in this Street Fighter V build! The analyst pointed out her leg muscles were just incredible – seriously, ‘on another level,’ he said. It really emphasized how strong she’s become in the game.

He guessed that her powerful leg muscles would make her a fighter who relies heavily on kicks. Her strong back and glutes would give her incredible balance and allow her to perform a wide range of difficult and powerful kicks.

Nakagawa, drawing on his expertise, described Chun-Li at her best not just as a skilled fighter, but as a powerhouse of leg-based attacks – essentially, a complete lower-body arsenal.

It’s been a while since the last Street Fighter V game. Now, Chun-Li has retired from Interpol and is teaching kung fu in Metro City. Some people have suggested this means she’s no longer at her best, but is that really the case?

As a longtime fan, I’ve noticed a pretty big change in Cammy’s physique in Street Fighter 6! It really seems like they’ve toned down her lower body – she’s lost a good chunk of muscle mass, maybe down to about two-thirds of what it used to be. And honestly, her back looks much smaller now. Before, it was really prominent, almost like a swan’s, but now it’s more compact, like a swallow’s – it’s a noticeably different look.

Nakagawa observed a significant change in Chun-Li’s character design between Street Fighter V and Street Fighter 6. In the newer game, she’s depicted as a fit and attractive athlete, whereas in the previous installment, she was portrayed with a much more muscular lower body.

Let’s take a special look at the physique of Chun-Li in Street Fighter. Is she past her prime? We’ll compare her appearance in Street Fighter V and Street Fighter 6 to see if she’s declined, and if so, how much. Let’s dive in and take a closer look.

Even though Chun has eased up on intense weightlifting because of her work with Interpol, she’s still a formidable fighter – and surprisingly strong.

Even though no one is competing in Capcom Cup who primarily plays Chun-Li, fans will still be able to see her character in the new Street Fighter movie, which comes out on October 16, 2026.
