Apple TV’s New 6-Part Thriller Series Is A Worldwide Streaming Hit After 3-Month Release Delay

A controversial Apple TV show is becoming a streaming success.

The French drama The Hunt is gaining popularity on Apple TV worldwide, currently ranking at #9 globally according to FlixPatrol. It’s holding strong at number nine on Apple TV in several countries, including Hong Kong, Italy, Latvia, Germany, Ghana, and Colombia.

The six-episode thriller is gaining popularity on Apple TV, currently ranking among the top 10 in several countries including South Africa, Norway, and Vietnam. It’s performing particularly well in Slovakia, Estonia, and the Czech Republic, as well as in Bulgaria, Botswana, and Belarus. But its success isn’t limited to those regions.

The TV show The Hunt is performing well internationally on Apple TV. It’s currently the #3 most-watched show in Mozambique, #4 in both France and Guinea-Bissau, and #5 in the Bahamas. It also ranks at #7 in several other countries, including Dominica, Luxembourg, Mauritius, Panama, Sweden, and Switzerland.

The new series, The Hunt, is gaining attention after being accused of plagiarism. In November 2025, the show—created by Cédric Anger—was alleged to have copied the plot from Douglas Fairbairn’s 1973 novel, Shoot. Gaumont, the production company behind the series, recently shared with Variety how they are addressing the situation.

We’ve temporarily paused airing our show, ‘The Hunt,’ while we carefully look into some concerns about the production. Protecting original ideas and creative work is extremely important to us.

After the claims surfaced, Deadline reported in February that the series is now recognizing the book Shoot as its original source. Gaumont reached an agreement with the owners of the rights to both Fairbairn’s book and the 1976 film adaptation.

The thriller series unexpectedly premiered on March 4th, much earlier than its original December 2025 release date. Because of this early launch, it doesn’t yet have ratings on Rotten Tomatoes – both the critics’ and audience scores are still to come. We can expect to see those scores appear later in March.

Episode 4 of The Hunt, featuring Mélanie Laurent, Benoît Magimel, Damien Bonnard, Manuel Guillot, and Sarah Pachoud, will be available on Apple TV starting March 18th.
