Apple TV+ has quickly become a favorite for science fiction fans, with shows like Severance and Silo sparking lots of discussion. Last year, the streaming service released a highly anticipated sci-fi thriller created by Vince Gilligan, the mind behind Breaking Bad. The show initially received excellent reviews and strong viewership, but interest seems to be waning, potentially putting the second season at risk.
Apple TV+ is a crowded streaming service, but it doesn’t have as many shows and movies as other platforms. This makes it easy to see which programs are popular and which ones aren’t. When Pluribus first arrived last year, it quickly became a hit. However, interest in the show has gradually decreased. As the second season approaches, it’s unclear if the show will maintain its fanbase.
I’ve been keeping an eye on Apple TV+, and as of today, Pluribus is currently at number 10 on their list of most-watched shows. Now, being in the Top 10 is good, absolutely. But it’s worth noting Severance is still holding strong at number six, even though its new season premiered ages ago! Plus, Apple has some highly anticipated releases on the horizon – the new season of Your Friends & Neighbors, for example – and I wouldn’t be surprised if they quickly push Pluribus off the charts altogether.
‘Pluribus’ Season 2 Can Cement the Series as a Modern Sci-Fi Classic
Despite a somewhat slow start, Pluribus has real potential. To become a truly memorable sci-fi show, like Severance, the second season needs to be even better than the first. Fortunately, the series already has a lot going for it. Rhea Seehorn is fantastic as Carol, one of the last survivors, and the writing is superb – reminiscent of Breaking Bad. It also skillfully blends sci-fi thrills with dark humor.
Critics loved Pluribus, giving it overwhelmingly positive reviews and a 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s been renewed for a second season, and if it’s as good as the first, expect everyone to be talking about it! However, production of the new season hasn’t been without its challenges.
‘Pluribus’ Season 2 Has Hit a Major Hurdle

Apple TV
Vince Gilligan recently told Polygon that work on the show’s second season isn’t progressing as quickly as he’d like. After a successful first season, he’s finding it challenging to start writing the next one, but hopes it will be full of excitement and unexpected developments.
