Spring 2026 promises to be an amazing season for fans of isekai anime, and it’s headlined by the return of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. Season 4 is being produced by 8bit Studio with Naokatsu Tsuda at the helm, and it looks fantastic. The recently released trailer hints at what’s to come, but many viewers are especially impressed by the show’s beautiful animation.
Released in 2018, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime quickly became popular within the isekai genre. The show is a fantasy adventure with exciting action, well-written characters and dialogue, and plenty of humor. Although the third season wasn’t as strong as the first two, the series seems to be regaining its momentum and is currently very enjoyable.
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime’s Season 4 Trailer Teases Stunning New Visuals
The new trailer shows Rimuru Tempest working towards a dream: a world where humans and monsters can live together peacefully. This sets the stage for what promises to be a massive conflict in the series’ eight-year history. However, Maribel Rozzo, a reincarnated individual with a special ability, and her grandfather, Granbell Rozzo, have different ideas.
Rimuru’s happy thoughts while exploring the village are suddenly contrasted by a more serious mood and hints of danger as we meet Granbell and Maribel Rozzo. The trailer doesn’t reveal much of the main plot, but it does give us a good idea of what’s to come. A brief scene of Maribel moving a chess piece on a map suggests they have plans involving Rimuru and her companions.
The fourth season of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime kicks off with the captivating theme song “Ekuzora” by Eir Aoi, alongside stunning fight scenes and the welcome return of familiar faces like Benimaru, Souei, and Shion. With the team reunited and a major threat on the horizon, this season promises to be one of the show’s strongest adaptations yet.
The climax clearly shows the difference in beliefs between Rimuru Tempest and the Rozzo family: Rimuru wants to bring monsters and humans together, while the Rozzo family aims to control and dominate. Viewers who only watch the anime haven’t seen what’s coming in the next two story arcs, but manga readers will likely recognize the significance of these scenes.
Reincarnated as a Slime’s New Release Schedule Is a Big Win For Isekai Fans
The fourth season of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime will be unusually long, split into five parts (or ‘cours’). The first two parts are scheduled to air in Spring 2026. This is a significant announcement because most recent anime series with multiple parts only have three or four, making a five-part season quite rare. Fans can look forward to a total of 60 or more episodes, which is exciting news for the series’ dedicated following.
The anime will return with its first two parts in April 2026. After a short pause, the next two parts will be released, followed by another break and then the final twelve episodes of the fourth season. The first two parts, airing from April to September, give the creators, Naokatsu Tsuda and 8bit Studio, a chance to adapt story arcs that fans have been eagerly anticipating for That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime.
Season 4 of the anime could adapt several arcs from the manga, including ‘The Majin Behind the Scenes,’ ‘Awakening of the Chosen Hero,’ ‘The Eve of War,’ ‘The Imperial Invasion,’ and ‘A Clash of Dragons and Monsters.’ There’s a chance the anime will catch up to the manga if it’s paced quickly and has a lot of episodes. Still, fans have a lot of exciting content to anticipate in the coming years.
Fans are anticipating that That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime will continue to be a major hit, and current plans suggest the same could be true for its fifth season in 2027. With the return of popular series like Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World and Ascendance of a Bookworm: Adopted Daughter of an Archduke*, fans of isekai anime have a lot to look forward to.
