A Half-Life fan who makes videos online recently bought a fake website based on the game Resident Evil Requiem and is now using it to promote their YouTube channel.
Resident Evil Requiem is packed with hidden references and nods to previous games in the popular Resident Evil series. Some are easy to spot, while others require dedicated fans to spend hours searching to find them all.
A Resident Evil fan found a hidden detail on the laptops used to save games in Raccoon City. The code on the laptop screens is hard to see normally, but using a rifle scope makes it much clearer.
While examining the computer screen filled with complex code, the player spotted a website address: NEWDAWN-capcom.com.
The team clarified the meaning behind a recent online moment in a popular post on X, suggesting it’s a nod to the theme song of RE9, ‘Through the Darkness.’ They also pointed out similarities to quotes spoken by Albert Wesker in Resident Evil 4 and 5, specifically his lines, ‘You will not live to see the dawn,’ and ‘All you need to know is a new dawn is breaking.’
While looking through the seemingly random text on the BSAA’s computer in Resident Evil 9, I found a domain name: NEWDAWN-capcom.com. Searching for it online didn’t return any results. The only thing I could connect ‘NEWDAWN’ to is references in the lyrics of ‘Through the Darkness’ and quotes from Wesker in Resident Evil 4 Remake and Resident Evil 5. #REBHFun

Half-Life YouTuber snags Resident Evil Requiem Easter egg site
Seeing a chance to promote his work, a creator named Gabe Follower registered a web address and filled it with images from the game Half-Life 2. He also included links to his social media profiles and how to contact him.
Gabe Follower is an online creator who shares the latest news, discoveries, and leaks related to Valve’s games, including Counter-Strike 2 and the Half-Life franchise, on platforms like YouTube and Twitch.
We don’t know if Capcom will try to get the website address back, but for now, it looks like we’ve seen a unique, and probably one-time, combination of the Resident Evil and Half-Life universes.

Gabe Follower hasn’t publicly discussed buying the domain, but he playfully responded to questions about it on X (formerly Twitter) with a GIF from Star Wars. The GIF featured Obi-Wan Kenobi saying, “Of course I know him. He’s me!” – implying he was the buyer.
Resident Evil fans are buzzing about a recent discovery: a YouTuber who normally plays Pokémon unexpectedly solved the notoriously difficult ‘Final Puzzle’ from the Requiem game, and it was a complete accident!
