From the very beginning, The Boys hasn’t shied away from shockingly violent deaths of major characters. With season 5 being the show’s finale, it’s expected the creators will continue this trend, not holding back when it comes to the fates of beloved characters. One character, in particular, has long seemed destined to die.
His near absence in the latest trailer for The Boys season 5 strongly suggests his storyline won’t have a happy ending. While the show could always surprise us, it would be shocking if this character survives the season.
The Boys Season 5’s Trailer Spells A Concerning Fate For A-Train
A-Train appears very briefly in the trailer for the new season of The Boys, much less than most of the other adult main characters. This short appearance has led many to believe he won’t make it through the show’s final season. His fate seemed uncertain even in season 4, after he turned against Homelander to help Butcher and his team.
Even though he knew it would cause problems with Homelander, he still rescued Annie, Butcher, and MM from Black Noir and The Deep.
Most characters in The Boys are either very good or very bad, but A-Train has shown glimmers of goodness despite his past actions. After accidentally killing Hughie’s girlfriend, Robin, at the beginning of the series, it felt natural that his arc would end with a selfless sacrifice and a chance at redemption.
It appears he’ll achieve the redemption he’s been striving for in season 5 of The Boys, but it won’t be without significant sacrifice.
The trailer for season 5 of The Boys shows Homelander flying incredibly fast while pursuing someone, and he appears to be using his heat vision. This strongly suggests he intends to kill whoever he’s chasing. Many viewers believe this chase will lead to a confrontation between Homelander and A-Train, and if that happens, A-Train likely doesn’t stand much of a chance.
Homelander doesn’t tolerate anyone who crosses or betrays him, as seen by his brutal treatment of even those he likes – he famously killed Black Noir. Because of this, if he encounters A-Train again, he won’t hesitate to eliminate him.
Many Main Characters Will Likely Die In The Boys Season 5
Besides A-Train, we can expect a lot of characters to die before The Boys season 5 is over. Even Homelander’s survival isn’t guaranteed. Billy Butcher is facing a likely death, and several of the newer superpowered characters from Gen V also appear to be in danger.
The fifth and final season of The Boys is coming, and it’s shaping up to be a massive conclusion, similar to Avengers: Endgame. While the Marvel Cinematic Universe tended to protect its heroes, The Boys has always been known for unexpectedly killing off important characters, and it seems the show won’t hesitate to do so again.
It’s hard to predict who will die in the fifth season of The Boys, but A-Train seems to be heading for a tragic end. Homelander will likely reach a peak of power before ultimately facing a significant downfall. And if Butcher uses the virus that kills superpowered people, many supes could die before the show ends on Prime Video.
