A new season order often gives a show a boost in popularity, and that’s exactly what happened with the critically praised crime comedy-drama series . After ABC announced a third season, the show quickly climbed to the top of Hulu’s most-watched list.
According to FlixPatrol, the show High Potential is currently the most popular title on Hulu, topping both their list of Top 10 TV Shows and their overall Top 10 chart. Starring Kaitlin Olson from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, the series is also performing well on Disney+, reappearing in the Top 10 charts in multiple countries after being renewed for another season.
High Potential Renewed for Season 3
The show has been renewed for a third season, which will premiere on March 5th. However, Todd Harthan will be stepping down as showrunner after the current second season to concentrate on developing new projects with Todd Helbing.
We don’t know how long Harthan had been planning to leave the show. However, in January, the showrunner told Deadline that the end of Season 2 would set up a thrilling continuation into a possible Season 3.
The showrunner explained that the upcoming season will feel different from the last, but aims to be more emotionally engaging, fast-paced, and full of unexpected twists. They’ve built on what they learned from Season 1 and developed the characters further to achieve this.
Drew Goddard created the series High Potential, which is inspired by the 2021 French and Belgian show HPI. Kaitlin Olson stars as Morgan Gillory, a single mom of three who cleans at the Los Angeles Police Department. Morgan is exceptionally intelligent, with an IQ of 160, making her a high-potential thinker.
High Potential centers around Morgan, who unexpectedly cracks a difficult case and is then brought on as a civilian consultant for the LAPD’s Major Crimes Division. Daniel Sunjata and Judy Reyes star alongside her as Detective Adam Karadec, her partner, and Lieutenant Selena Soto, the unit’s commanding officer.
High Potential Has Had Record-Breaking Success on ABC
As a critic, I’ve been watching the numbers on this one, and High Potential is clearly connecting with audiences. The show debuted strong on ABC with 3.6 million viewers, but here’s the kicker: that number jumped to a whopping 11.5 million when you factor in those watching on Hulu and Disney+ over the next three days! That’s a 220% increase – a huge win for ABC and a sign this show has real staying power. It’s definitely one to keep an eye on.
The new series High Potential quickly became ABC’s most popular new show in six years, even beating the debut season numbers of The Conners. Viewership steadily increased throughout its first season, peaking on January 14, 2025, with 13.19 million viewers across all platforms. The start of Season 2 also drew a large audience, with 11.9 million viewers tuning in across multiple platforms.
Watch new episodes of High Potential on ABC every Tuesday. You can also stream the series on Hulu in the U.S. and on Disney+ in other countries.
