Firefighters had to rescue a man who got stuck in a phone booth while attempting to order a kebab.
In Manchester, England, a man went inside a traditional red phone booth to try and order some food.
Not only was the phone in the booth broken, but things got even worse when the door slammed shut and locked, trapping him inside.
Firefighters called to free trapped man
The Manchester Evening News reported that a man was stuck inside a photo booth for about an hour after the door unexpectedly locked. His friends tried to help, but couldn’t get the door open.
According to a witness, the man went into the phone booth to order a kebab when the door suddenly slammed shut and locked. Because these booths require special keys to open, bystanders couldn’t get him out.
Firefighters arrived and had to break down the door, attracting a crowd of people who watched from a distance.
Although most of the UK’s famous red phone boxes aren’t used for calls anymore, many are still standing. They’ve been repurposed as tiny libraries for local communities or to house important life-saving equipment like defibrillators.
It’s not the first time people have gotten stuck in strange situations. Just a few months ago, in February, Lufthansa passengers were stranded on their plane all night when their flight was cancelled.
