UNIQLO reveals new Pokemon T-shirts with original Gen 1 artwork

As a huge Pokémon fan, I’m so excited about this! UNIQLO is marking 30 years of Pokémon with a new line of clothes featuring the classic, original artwork from the very first games – Generation 1! It’s awesome to see those original designs again.

The retailer is releasing a new line of Pokémon t-shirts featuring designs inspired by the original watercolor artwork from the 1996 games. The shirts will showcase popular Pokémon from the Kanto region, including Charizard, Mewtwo, Gengar, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle.

UNIQLO Pokemon collection celebrates original designs

This collection aims to recapture the feeling of the earliest Pokémon games, with artwork inspired by the iconic style of Ken Sugimori, who created many of the original designs for Pokémon Red, Green, and Blue on Game Boy.

Instead of using current anime styles or 3D graphics, these shirts feature a gentle, watercolor aesthetic inspired by the original Pokémon illustrations.

The character selection heavily features Pokémon from the original Kanto region. You’ll find the first three starter Pokémon – Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle – as well as popular choices like Pikachu, Snorlax, and Gengar.

The new collection features ten different shirt designs for both adults and kids, with five designs available in each size range. Adult shirts cost about $14, and kids’ shirts are $7.

The collection will become available in late March 2026 at UNIQLO stores and online, starting in Japan. It will then be released in other countries, similar to past UT collaborations.

This new clothing collection is part of a series of celebrations for Pokémon’s 30th anniversary in 2026. Just last week, Game Freak announced the next Pokémon games, titled Pokémon Wind and Waves, and showed off the three new starter Pokémon for the first time.
