As a dedicated fan of Honkai: Star Rail, I am beyond excited for the latest addition to our roster of playable characters – Yunli! Her kit is not only visually stunning but also strategically complex, making her a formidable Physical-type DPS that relies on counterattacks and taunts.
Star Rail has unveiled all details about the new five-star character named Yunli, who is a Physical Damage Per Second (DPS) fighter aligned with the Destruction path. Yunli will be officially added to the Honkai: Star Rail playable cast on July 31 as part of Version 2.4 release.
Following the conclusion of the Penacony saga, Honkai: Star Rail is advancing into Version 2.4 with a return to Xianzhou Luofu and an array of thrilling new content. The upcoming update introduces not one, but two highly-anticipated 5-star characters: Yunli and Jiaoqiu. Additionally, March 7th’s Imaginary Hunt form will make its appearance. While March 7th can be acquired for free through the main event on March 7th, Yunli will be showcased in Phase 1 banners alongside Huohuo’s rerun. In the upcoming adventure, “Finest Duel Under the Pristine Blue: Part I,” Yunli teams up with Janqing to mentor March 7th in the art of swordsmanship.
Star Rail’s YouTube channel showcasing Yunli’s abilities. Yunli is categorized as a Physical damage dealer following the Destruction path and functions mainly as an attacker. Her power comes primarily from her Talent that enables her to retaliate forcefully against adversaries. When Yunli uses her Ultimate skill, she enters a protective stance that provokes all enemies, resulting in more potent counterattacks based on her Attack power.
To get the best results from using Yunli in battle, it’s essential to have her attacked by enemies as often as possible. With each attack she receives, Yunli retaliates against her foes more times. However, players need to remember that her Parry state is only effective until the next turn ends for the opposing team. Therefore, using Yunli’s Ultimate ability right before an enemy’s turn begins will allow her to inflict maximum damage with her “Intuit: Cull” strike. Yunli’s kit may be intricate, but she has the potential to rank among Honkai: Star Rail’s top Physical characters.
Honkai: Star Rail Yunli’s Kit Explained
- Basic Attack: Galespin Summersault – Applies physical DMG to a single enemy.
- Talent: Flashforge – When Yunli receives an attack, she immediately performs a Counterattack on the enemy, dealing physical DMG to it and its adjacent targets. She also regenerates Energy.
- Trace: Demon Quell – When under Parry State, Yunli reduces incoming DMG by a certain percentage and resists Crowd Control debuffs.
- Technique: Posterior Precedence – Yunli gains “Ward” for a certain duration. If she either attacks or is attacked by an enemy, she will enter combat and immediately perform Intuit: Cull on a random target.
- Skill: Bladeborne Quake – Restores a certain amount of HP and deals physical DMG to a single enemy and its adjacent targets.
- Ultimate: Earthbind, Etherbreak – Consumes a certain amount Energy, and Yunli enters a “Parry” State. She taunts all enemies and increases the Crit DMG of her next Counter. Parry lasts until the end of the next enemy or ally’s turn. When her Talent is triggered under Parry state, depending on the circumstances, Yunli’s next Counterattack will become either “Intuit: Slash” or “Intuit: Cull” attacks, with the latter dealing the most DMG.
- Intuit: Slash – Occurs when Yunli is not attacked until the end of Parry. Deals physical DMG to the target enemy and adjacent targets.
- Intuit: Cull – Occurs when Yunli receives an attack during Parry. Deals physical DMG to the target enemy and adjacent targets. Then deals multiple additional physical hits, each landing on a random single enemy. This action then dispels Parry.
In the game “Honkai: Star Rail,” Yunli is introduced as a talented swordswoman hailing from the distinguished Xianzhou clan of blade-makers. Despite her youth, Yunli bears a heavy past shrouded in sadness. For those eager to learn more about her background, they can explore her backstory further in the upcoming Companion Mission titled “Swords to Plowshares,” scheduled for release in Version 2.4. Players will get to utilize Yunli and her signature Light Cone during the game’s next banner event, which is set to run from July 31 to August 21.
In addition to Yunli, Honkai: Star Rail is set to introduce several Xianzhou Luofu characters in upcoming updates, including Jiaoqiu, Feixiao, and Lingsha. However, HoYoverse has received criticism over their casting decision for the character Moze in Honkai: Star Rail. The voice actor has since withdrawn from the role, but it’s unclear if this controversy will impact the reception of Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.4.
