TikToker ‘runs’ a 5K on a plane but no one is thrilled about it

A TikTok user completed a 5K run while on an 11-hour flight, and most viewers are questioning the purpose of doing so, as evidenced by the video’s widespread reaction.

If you’re dedicated to marathon running, consistently following a tough training plan is essential. You need to complete your runs, no matter the conditions – whether it’s bad weather, low energy, or even while traveling – to stay on track.

TikTok user ‘dom.stroh’ seems to believe in staying active no matter what. They didn’t let an 11-hour flight stop them from getting their exercise in.

Instead of using the bathroom normally, they locked themselves in for a full hour. What were they up to? They were ‘running’ – meaning they were practicing running in place.

‘Running’ a 5K on a plane goes viral

The marathon runner filmed a full hour of their time in the airplane bathroom during a long flight. However, due to the limited space, they weren’t actually running – it was a much more confined activity than you’d imagine.

He was simply pacing back and forth, repeatedly stepping on and off the toilet. It went on for nearly an hour – a full 59 minutes and 32 seconds – which would have made most people feel dizzy after just a few minutes.

Okay, so this is wild. Apparently, someone tracked a ‘run’ on Strava… while in the bathroom! They somehow managed to clock 5.53km – that’s over 3.4 miles – just going back and forth in there. It’s blown up online, getting over 4.4 million views on X (Twitter) and another 1.4 million on TikTok. Everyone’s losing it, and honestly, same! It’s seriously the most creative use of a fitness tracker I’ve ever seen.

Most of the online reactions centered around the fact that he occupied the airplane bathroom for a full hour. One commenter jokingly wrote, “I almost had an accident on the flight because of this!”

“The toilet is probably not designed to be a stair master,” another chimed in.

One TikTok user commented that the video wasn’t what people typically associate with the term ‘mile high club,’ while another reassured the person it was perfectly fine to take a break.
