Golfer ends nightmare PGA tour appearance by breaking club mid swing

Billy Horschel had a tough weekend, getting into arguments with fans and struggling with his game. To top it off, he snapped a club during his final round after an unusual shot.

The Cognizant Classic is underway in Florida, but golfer Billy Horschel likely regrets playing in the tournament, especially since it’s in his home state.

The golfer made a powerful swing, but unfortunately, his club hit a tree as he followed through. The ball went where he wanted it to, but the impact completely bent and damaged his iron.

Honestly, watching that happen was just… predictable! Everyone seemed to be thinking the same thing – that club was always going to go flying. It was one of those moments where you could just tell the player wasn’t quite on their game, and that was bound to happen eventually.

Horschel had a difficult weekend, finishing with a three-over par final round and placing him near the bottom of the standings.

Cognizant Classic is one to forget for Horschel

Although Billy Horschel qualified for the weekend rounds, things quickly fell apart for him. While the incident with the disruptive fan wasn’t helpful, it actually happened after he’d already hit a shot badly, sending it over the green and into the water.

Horschel struggled on Sunday, making three bogeys and two double-bogeys during his round. Despite four birdies, he had a very difficult day and finished near the bottom of the leaderboard, with only five players scoring worse than him.

Even though Billy Horschel finished 62nd, he’s still expected to earn a little over $21,000 in prize money – enough to buy that new golf club he was looking at.
