It’s a fantastic time to enjoy movies at home! February offered a great selection of films available on demand, with something for every taste – including Oscar-nominated movies, a delightfully over-the-top film, action from Jason Statham, and even zombie flicks. If you can‘t find something to watch from that variety, you might just be too picky!

Hamnet
Chloe Zhao, 126 minutes

Chloe Zhao’s film, nominated for eight Oscars, features a powerful performance by Jessie Buckley as Agnes, the wife of William Shakespeare. The story centers on the couple’s devastating loss when their son, Hamnet, unexpectedly dies, and how Shakespeare transforms his grief into what many consider his greatest play. Nominated for Best Picture, the film explores the connection between art, emotion, and healing. While it’s sparked a lot of debate, it’s a significant film that viewers should experience for themselves to form their own opinions.
The Housemaid
Paul Feig, 131 minutes
https://youtube.com/watch?v=watch?v=48CtX6OgU3s
This movie is based on Freida McFadden’s 2022 novel and has become a surprising success, earning over $360 million worldwide with a relatively small budget. It’s a fun, over-the-top thriller starring Sydney Sweeney as a housemaid who gets caught up in a dangerous game with her wealthy employers, played by Brandon Sklenar and a fantastic Amanda Seyfried. As she begins an affair with the husband, she quickly discovers that secrets lurk within their seemingly perfect home. Due to its popularity, a second movie is already in development.
The Plague
Charlie Polinger, 98 minutes
https://youtube.com/watch?v=watch?v=QGMRkHPAaVU
Kayo Martin recently won an Independent Spirit Award for his breakout role in this impressive debut film, which first gained attention at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2025. The film, directed by Polinger, centers on Ben (Everett Blunck), a typical 12-year-old attending a summer water polo camp run by Joel Edgerton. When Ben defends a bullied classmate, he unexpectedly finds himself becoming the target. The movie is a clever, sensitive, and genuinely scary look at the challenges of being a pre-teen.

Marty Supreme
Josh Safdie, 150 minutes
https://youtube.com/watch?v=watch?v=s9gSuKaKcqM
With nine Academy Award nominations and Timothée Chalamet as the likely Best Actor winner, this captivating movie follows Marty Mauser, a table tennis player determined to become a world champion. He encounters a former star (Gwyneth Paltrow), her ruthless husband (Kevin O’Leary), and a host of other memorable people along the way. This film, a blend of drama and comedy reminiscent of 1970s cinema – where flawed characters were more readily accepted – is a strong contender for one of the best films of 2025. Co-directed by the creator of Uncut Gems, it shares that film’s intense, energetic style and feels incredibly vibrant.

Is This Thing On?
Bradley Cooper, 121 minutes
https://youtube.com/watch?v=watch?v=x4jx0Xgc_Pc
This funny and heartfelt movie is inspired by the life of comedian John Bishop. It follows Alex (Will Arnett), a regular guy going through a divorce from his wife, Tess (Laura Dern). One night, he unexpectedly ends up at a comedy club and finds he enjoys sharing his personal struggles and the details of his failing marriage with the audience. It’s a clever and touching film, with especially strong performances from Arnett and Dern – many would say Arnett delivers his best on-screen work yet.
Primate
Johannes Roberts, 89 minutes
https://youtube.com/watch?v=watch?v=wo87F-va410
I just saw the opening night premiere at Fantastic Fest, and wow! This movie is a lean, mean thrill ride about Ben, a chimpanzee who’s basically grown up as part of a family in Hawaii, and can even ‘talk’ to people. But things go south fast – he gets bitten by a rabid mongoose, and you instantly know it’s going to be a wild, intense movie about a killer chimp! Honestly, it was a surprisingly good film, and I was shocked to hear it’s already available for rental at home so soon after its theatrical release – it’s one of the first big movies of 2026 to do that!
February 17
28 Years Later: The Bone Temple
Nia DaCosta, 109 minutes
https://youtube.com/watch?v=watch?v=EOwTdTZA8D8
Even though critics loved the new 28 Years Later almost as much as the original, the movie didn’t do well in theaters – likely because of bad weather across the country. If you missed it, you can now rent or buy it on demand! It’s a continuation of the story started by director Danny Boyle, now helmed by Candyman‘s Nia DaCosta, and it’s worth watching if we ever want to know how this series concludes.
February 24
Shelter
Ric Roman Waugh, 107 minutes
https://youtube.com/watch?v=watch?v=ISOoDwsryPc
Each year seems to bring a new action film starring Jason Statham, and this one is no different. Directed by the filmmaker behind movies like Snitch and Angel Has Fallen, the story follows Statham as a former hitman living in Scotland. He’s pulled back into his old life when he tries to dismantle the organization he used to work for, all while protecting a young girl named Jessie. While it didn’t generate quite the same excitement as The Beekeeper, it might be worth watching at home on demand rather than in a movie theater.
The Voice of Hind Rajab
Kaouther Ben Hania, 89 minutes
https://youtube.com/watch?v=watch?v=JkeKrG0YONQ
On January 29, 2024, Red Crescent volunteers received a distress call from six-year-old Hind Rajab, who was trapped in gunfire in Gaza. This powerful film recreates the events, using recordings of Hind’s actual voice alongside actors playing the rescue workers who tried to reach her amidst the bodies of her family. The inclusion of her real voice lends the film a striking authenticity, and it was nominated for an Academy Award for Best International Feature Film.
