Overwatch x NieR collaboration accidentally revealed early with first look at skins

Details about a potential Overwatch 2 collaboration with NieR: Automata have surfaced online. The leak suggests the game will feature character skins inspired by the popular action role-playing game developed by Square Enix and PlatinumGames.

A recent YouTube short from Blizzard hints at a collaboration that will include character outfits inspired by the game NieR.

Although there’s no confirmed release date yet, the reliable X/Twitter account Overwatch Cavalry reports the collaboration is expected to launch on March 10th.

Leaked Overwatch x NieR skins revealed

Leaked information suggests the upcoming crossover will feature character skins for Mercy, Kiriko, Wuyang, Lifeweaver, and Vendetta, all designed to resemble characters from the game NieR: Automata.

Get a first look at the new Overwatch 2 skins inspired by Nier: Automata! Blizzard just released a short video showing off upcoming looks for Lifeweaver, Vendetta, Wuyang, Kiriko, and Mercy. These skins will be available starting March 10th as part of the Project YoRHa collaboration.

The hero skins seem inspired by the YoRHa androids – the powerful combat units that are key characters in the NieR storyline. Characters like 2B, A2, and 9S are all featured as these skins.

People are speculating that this collaboration will launch with an update coming in early March, but Blizzard hasn’t officially confirmed anything yet.

Since Overwatch dropped the ‘2’ from its name, Blizzard has been adding more team-based events to the game. The upcoming NieR-themed skins will follow the popular Hello Kitty collaboration from February and a Persona 5 event that happened in 2025.

As for NieR, Square Enix confirmed just last week that a new game in the series is in the works.
