What is DTF St Louis about?

DTF St. Louis is a limited series that follows a complicated love triangle between three people going through a midlife crisis, and ultimately, someone ends up dead.
This story goes far beyond simple adventure, exploring complex topics like love, attraction, unusual desires, infidelity, and mortality—with a surprisingly playful nod to the style of Indiana Jones adult films.
Showrunner Steven Conrad told Vanity Fair that the setting of St. Louis was key to the story. He explained that using St. Louis helped surprise viewers by revealing events happening behind closed doors in a place they’d likely assumed was calm and uneventful.
He explained that these three individuals are finally expressing long-suppressed desires, and are worried about facing serious repercussions as a result.
As Conrad pointed out, the DTF St. Louis app has a bit of irony built in. It features ads with the slogan, ‘All of the excitement, none of the consequences,’ which he believes anyone would recognize as unrealistic – actions always have results.
He explained that cheating, flirting, and having emotional or physical affairs take a significant toll on a marriage.
Don’t miss the premiere of DTF St. Louis on HBO this Sunday, March 1st at 6pm Pacific Time / 9pm Eastern Time. If you’re in the UK, you can watch it on Sky or Now starting March 2nd.
