As a huge movie fan, I’ve been following all the buzz about who’s going to be the next James Bond! There’s been so much speculation, with names like Jacob Elordi, Callum Turner, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson thrown around. But it sounds like we’re finally getting some clarity. Denis Villeneuve, the director behind amazing films like Dune and Blade Runner 2049, is taking over the 007 series after Daniel Craig’s run ended with No Time to Die. Apparently, the script is really driving the casting choices, and Steven Knight, the creator of Peaky Blinders, is the one writing it for James Bond 26. It’s exciting to see this new era of Bond taking shape!
Callum Turner, known for his role in Fantastic Beasts, and Jacob Elordi, who starred in Frankenstein, are currently leading contenders to become the next James Bond. There have been rumors that Turner has been confidently suggesting he’s already secured the part, and recent reports indicate Elordi has been in discussions with the film’s producers and director Denis Villeneuve about potentially taking on the role.

It’s easy to see why people are already imagining who will play the next James Bond, especially given the exciting style Denis Villeneuve brings to his films – a style he’s expected to continue with the 007 series. However, a recent report from TheWrap states that no screen tests will take place until the script is finalized by writer Knight. According to a leading talent agent, any current casting rumors are simply untrue.
Look, as a movie fan, I’ve learned to take Bond casting rumors with a huge grain of salt. Seriously, until they actually have a script and start doing screen tests, everything you hear is just speculation. They’re not giving that role to anyone without seeing how they actually play the part on camera – and that means tests for everyone, no exceptions.
In addition to working on the James Bond script, Steven Knight is currently involved with his series House of Guinness and A Thousand Blows, and the upcoming Netflix film Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man. According to a source, the Bond script could be finished very soon, and Amazon has a potential release timeframe in mind.
Amazon is aiming for the next James Bond film to be released in 2028, meaning they’ll be focused on finding a new Bond and preparing for production throughout this year.
Daniel Craig isn’t the only one with a packed schedule. Director Denis Villeneuve is currently finishing the last movie in his Dune series, Dune: Part Three, which is set to come out on December 18, 2026. This likely means we won’t get any official news about the new James Bond film until later this year, but the ongoing rumors and guesses are all part of the excitement.
Even though we’re still waiting for official news about the next James Bond film, the rumor that the studio wants a younger actor for the role seems likely to be true. The new Bond will have a tough job: stepping out from under Daniel Craig’s impressive portrayal and committing to the part for many years, including future movies and the spin-off series Amazon is planning.
