Although Borderlands 4 has been a hit with players, many have reported problems like crashes and lag. Because of these issues, Gearbox has announced that the Switch 2 version of the game will be delayed, with no new release date set.
Our review highlighted a great story and fun gameplay in Borderlands 4, but the game launched with frustrating technical problems like dropped frames and frequent crashes. Players have echoed these concerns, leading to a response from the CEO and the release of several updates aimed at improving performance.
Problems with the game have been moved to the next version of Borderlands 4, which will be released on the Switch 2. Both Gearbox and 2K have announced that this release is delayed, and players are now receiving refunds.
Borderlands 4 delayed on Nintendo Switch 2
Borderlands 4’s release on the Nintendo Switch 2 has been postponed, according to a post on the game’s X account. Originally planned for October 3rd, a new release date hasn’t been announced yet.

Gearbox explained that this wasn’t an easy decision, but they want to make sure fans have the best possible experience. They need more time to refine and improve the game before release, and they’re planning to include cross-saves in the final version.
They added that they’ll let everyone know when the new release will happen as soon as they finalize their plans. They don’t have a specific date yet, but they’ll share one soon.
So, the game’s been delayed… indefinitely, which really stinks. But the devs are cool about it – they said they’re automatically refunding everyone who pre-ordered digitally. I should see the money back in my account in the next few days, which is a relief.
So, I just saw a post saying the team’s still working on getting Borderlands running on the Switch 2, which is awesome! But, frustratingly, they haven’t given us any idea when it’ll actually come out yet. We’re all still waiting for a release date!
