The latest Star Wars series has uncovered something Anakin Skywalker despises even more than sand. In the 2002 film *Attack of the Clones*, Hayden Christensen’s character famously told Natalie Portman’s Padmé Amidala just how much he disliked sand. The line, delivered by the Tatooine native, was, “I don’t like sand. It’s coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere,” and quickly became one of the most memorable quotes in the entire Star Wars saga.
The new Star Wars show on streaming, *LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy: Pieces of the Past*, playfully referenced a famous line from *Episode II* by revealing something Anakin dislikes even more than sand.
In the fourth episode of *Pieces of the Past* (titled “Part 4”), the alternate-universe Darth Vader reveals that while he famously dislikes sand, his biggest annoyance is actually regret.
In a desperate attempt to reach his former love, Pirate Padmé, Anakin, now wearing a white mask, apologizes to the mother of his children. He tells her that the only thing more painful than sand is the regret he feels.
Padmé, I truly apologize. You know I can’t stand sand – it’s the worst thing in the galaxy to me. But regret is even worse. And I’ve been carrying a lot of regret for a long time now.
Honestly, watching Anakin finally seem like a better person, it felt like Padmé was accepting it as a real apology. It was a sweet moment, and she decided it was time to try and reunite the Skywalker family – something I was really rooting for!
The scene ends with a heartwarming hug as Leia and Luke join Rey and Ben, completing the Skywalker family. It’s the first time all the Skywalkers have shared a scene together.
The seemingly random mention of sand is just one of the many fun hidden details in this Lego Star Wars game. Other surprises include Darth Maul singing a version of the iconic “Duel of the Fates” theme, a flooded Tatooine, and the first appearance of the frequently joked-about Sith Lord, Jar-Jar Binks.
Okay, so Anakin Skywalker is back for another season, and let me tell you, this isn’t the Vader we know. We first saw him in 2024, but this version is… different. He never turned to the dark side, and he’s rocking a pristine, all-white Darth Vader suit. It’s a really fascinating take on the character, seeing him as the hero he could have been.
I’m really excited about this new development! It looks like our hero is teaming up with Sig Greebling, played by Gaten Matarazzo from *Stranger Things*. They’re joining forces to basically keep the wonderfully weird and mismatched Star Wars universe we’ve come to love consistent and running smoothly. It’s a pretty crucial mission, actually!
You can now watch LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy: Pieces of the Past on Disney+. This animated series, told in four parts, centers on Sig Greebling, a young hero who must face Solitus, a dangerous villain from another world with plans to destroy the Star Wars galaxy.
Gaten Matarazzo stars in the series, with supporting roles played by Tony Revolori, Bobby Moynihan, Mark Hamill, and Ahmed Best.
What’s Next For Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars Galaxy?
Although *LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy: Pieces of the Past* isn’t officially part of the main *Star Wars* storyline, it wouldn’t be shocking to learn that the core version of Anakin Skywalker also really dislikes regret, perhaps even more than sand.
Throughout his life, the character is haunted by regret, and the sense of lost potential fuels his descent into darkness as Darth Vader.
Fortunately, since Darth Vader died in *Star Wars: Episode VI-Return of the Jedi*, fans have had the chance to see more of his story and a path to redemption in other films and series.
Hayden Christensen’s popular Jedi character will likely explore his past mistakes in a future Star Wars story that is officially part of the established storyline.
Anakin Skywalker will be back for season two of *Ahsoka*, streaming on Disney+. He made a surprise appearance in the first season, where he came face-to-face with an older Ahsoka Tano – a former apprentice he left behind during the events of *Revenge of the Sith*.
The second season will likely feature more flashbacks to the Clone Wars, possibly using the World Between Worlds concept. These flashbacks will allow the character to delve deeper into his regrets about his past relationship with Ahsoka and other important parts of his life.
While this line about regret originally appeared as a humorous moment in a non-official LEGO Star Wars series, it actually reflects the deep sadness and pain experienced by Anakin Skywalker in the main Star Wars storyline.
