The first synopsis for Spider-Man: Brand New Day has arrived online, but Marvel fans are confused about the timeline that it establishes for Tom Holland’s Wall-Crawler after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home…
The next movie will show Peter Parker back to being a secret superhero. After the events of the last film, Doctor Strange wiped everyone’s memory of Spider-Man’s identity to keep Peter’s loved ones safe. This allows the Marvel Cinematic Universe to explore new storylines without the complication of the world knowing who’s behind the mask.
Marvel and Sony are keeping the details of their 2026 movie a secret, but we do know it will include several villains like Scorpion, Boomerang, and Tarantula. Plus, Jon Bernthal will finally play the Punisher on the big screen, and Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk will also have a role in the film.
Peter seems to have a busy storyline in the upcoming movie, Brand New Day, but the recently released summary has left some fans wondering about the order of events.
Marvel fans aren’t sure when Spider-Man: Brand New Day takes place
Okay, so here’s the deal with the new Spider-Man story, ‘Brand New Day.’ It’s been four years since we last saw Spidey, and things have changed. Basically, Peter Parker isn’t really around anymore, but Spider-Man is seriously good at his job, keeping New York safe. Life’s been pretty smooth sailing for the masked hero… until something goes wrong.

So, the first little peek at the story for the new Spider-Man movie, ‘Brand New Day,’ dropped online, and it says it’s been four years since Peter Parker went into hiding. That’s got everyone over on Reddit trying to figure out when exactly this movie fits into the bigger Marvel timeline. It’s a bit of a puzzle!
Someone asked if the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Peter Parker is around 21 or 22 years old during the “Brand New Day” storyline. Others suggested the movies might not show his college years at all.
One fan wondered if the next Spider-Man movie will jump ahead more than four years from where the last one left off, potentially skipping Peter Parker’s college years altogether. While they enjoy the college storylines, they also think it would be cool to see a fully grown Spider-Man.

A significant part of No Way Home focused on Peter, MJ, and Ned applying to colleges. A four-year time jump would probably mean he’s already finished that process and started attending college, skipping over most of those application struggles.
One user clearly explained that the events of No Way Home happened near the end of 2024.
Just a reminder that the story arc established in No Way Home suggests Peter Parker will finish high school in December 2024 and start college in September 2025. This new movie seems to be set during his senior year of college, likely in Fall/Winter 2028 – though some early photos hinted at a 2027 setting.
