According to a new rumor, a major MCU villain will no longer be showing up in Avengers: Doomsday.
Marvel Studios is finishing up work on Avengers: Doomsday, directed by Joe and Anthony Russo. The film is planned to be released later this year, and a sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, is expected to come out in 2027.
I’ve been following the Avengers: Doomsday trailers closely, and Marvel has now released all four! The first one was a huge surprise – it showed Chris Evans returning as Steve Rogers. Then they gave us a look at what Chris Hemsworth’s Thor is up to, and the third trailer teased some of the X-Men. The final trailer really got me excited, focusing on Letitia Wright as Shuri/Black Panther, and even showed off Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing, among others. I can’t wait to see what’s next!
Who has reportedly been cut from Avengers: Doomsday?
There have been rumors about Thanos, portrayed by Josh Brolin in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, returning, but James Mack is now reporting that this won’t happen.
The post claims that Thanos is no longer present in Avengers Doomsday.
Many fans are hoping to see Thanos appear in the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars movie. This is largely because Marvel might adapt a famous, though spoiler-heavy, scene from the Secret Wars comic book featuring Thanos and Doctor Doom. It’s still uncertain if this will actually happen, but it’s a popular expectation.
Okay, so I’m super excited about the new Avengers movie, ‘Doomsday’! They’re keeping the plot a secret, which is frustrating but also builds the hype, you know? The cast is incredible though – Robert Downey Jr. is playing Doctor Doom, which is a surprising but awesome choice! And we’ve got Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic, Florence Pugh returning as Yelena Belova, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, even Channing Tatum as Gambit and Simu Liu as Shang-Chi! It’s shaping up to be an epic team-up!
Okay, so mark your calendars, fellow movie fans! We’re officially looking at December 18th, 2026 for ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ and then just a little over a year later, on December 17th, 2027, we’ll get ‘Avengers: Secret Wars.’ It’s going to be a long wait, but it sounds epic!
