When it first came out in 2022, the show revolutionized the dramedy genre with its realistic depiction of the hospitality industry and characters that felt incredibly real. But as the series went on, viewers seemed to lose interest, making the announcement of a fifth season particularly unexpected.
The fourth season of the show ended with an episode titled “Goodbye,” leading many to believe it might be cancelled. But the show was actually renewed for a fifth season. Now, Jamie Lee Curtis, a well-known actress who recently appeared on the show, has hinted on Instagram that Season 5 will likely be the final one.
The actress who plays Donna Berzatto, the mother figure in the family, posted a picture with her co-star Abby Elliott, who plays her daughter Natalie. The post suggested they had successfully completed filming.
The Halloween star went on to praise the talented cast, crew, writers, and producers, including the show’s creator, Chris Storer. She shared that they had finished telling the story of this wonderful family that viewers have come to adore.
She ended the message with, “Gotta finish with my little Berzatto bear,” and tagged Elliott in the picture.
FX and Hulu haven’t confirmed if Season 5 will be the final season. Since Laverne Cox only appears as a guest star, her role on the show might be finished even if the series continues.
The Bear Has Been a Massive Success
This darkly humorous and emotional drama centers on Carmy (Jeremy Allen White), a chef who comes home after the unexpected death of his brother. He inherits the family’s sandwich shop, but decides to revamp it completely, turning it into a high-end restaurant despite its humble beginnings.
Let me tell you, The Bear absolutely lives up to the hype. It’s been a favorite among critics since day one, and the awards just keep rolling in – a whopping 21 Primetime Emmys over four seasons! And I was thrilled to see Ayo Edebiri take home the award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series – she absolutely deserved it.
With the show gaining popularity since its 2022 debut, ending it after the next season feels like a natural conclusion.
I’ve been following Jeremy Allen White for a while now, and while he was great on Shameless, it feels like things really took off for him recently. He’s landed some incredible roles – 2023’s The Iron Claw was fantastic, and he’s got even more coming up! I’m especially excited to see him join the Star Wars universe in an upcoming project, and I’m really looking forward to The Social Reckoning too – that one’s been on my radar for ages.
Ayo Edebiri and Ebon Moss-Bachrach are both experiencing major career boosts. Moss-Bachrach has joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will first appear in the 2025 film, The Fantastic Four: First Steps. He’s also confirmed to return as Ben Grimm/The Thing in the next Avengers: Doomsday movie.
The Bear Season 5 is expected to premiere sometime in 2026 on Hulu.
