Tom Hardy & Guy Ritchie’s Returning 10-Part Crime Thriller Series Is “Even Better” In New Episodes Releasing This Year, Teases Star

Emmett J. Scanlan, known for his role in MobLand, recently hinted at what viewers can anticipate when the show comes back later in 2024.

MobLand premiered on Paramount+ in spring 2025 and became the streaming service’s second-most popular debut ever. The show stars Pierce Brosnan as the leader of a family who enlists a professional problem-solver, played by Tom Hardy, to shield them from rival criminal organizations. Paramount has already renewed the series for a second season, and filming is currently happening.

While publicizing his new Netflix series, How to Get to Heaven From Belfast, Scanlan described the upcoming second season of MobLand as a much more intense version of the first, comparing it to “the first season on steroids!” He told Hello! magazine that the plots are wild and unpredictable, and he really enjoyed reading the scripts, calling them excellent and immersive.

Scanlan hinted that season 2 of MobLand is even more impressive than the first, without giving away any details about the plot.

If you enjoyed the first season, with its brilliant writing by Jez Butterworth, you’re in for a treat with season two! It’s even more intense and exciting. I was completely captivated by season one, both reading the scripts and experiencing the story. But I think season two surpasses it – the writing is absolutely phenomenal.

Scanlan played Paul O’Donnell, the head of security for Conrad Harrigan, in the first season of MobLand and will reprise the role in the upcoming season. He acted alongside Pierce Brosnan – famous for playing James Bond and starring in films like Mrs. Doubtfire, The Thomas Crown Affair, and Mamma Mia!

Scanlan described working with Brosnan as a truly wonderful experience, sharing that he’s admired the Bond actor for a long time. He said that despite the saying ‘never meet your heroes,’ Brosnan turned out to be incredibly kind, approachable, and supportive.

Working on MobLand was a learning experience for Scanlan, who has also appeared in shows and films like Hollyoaks, Beowulf: Return to the Shieldlands, Peaky Blinders, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Argylle.

I had the incredible opportunity to act alongside Pierce Brosnan in several scenes, and he was wonderful to work with. They say you shouldn’t meet your heroes, but that’s definitely not true in his case! He’s incredibly warm, welcoming, and a true artist. Working with people I admire and who are more experienced than me is a constant learning experience, and I feel lucky to be able to learn from the best on set. It’s truly amazing!

Scanlan feels the same way about many of his famous co-stars in MobLand, including Hardy and Helen Mirren. He explained, “Just being on set makes you want to be a better person and, hopefully, a better actor.”

These celebrities are incredibly successful, and Scanlan sees being on set with them as a valuable chance to learn – an opportunity not all actors experience.

Working on this project is an incredible learning experience, especially being around people I’ve admired for years – like Helen, Pierce, and Tom Hardy. Every day on set inspires me to improve, both as a person and as an actor. Seeing such talented performers at the peak of their careers is truly motivating, and honestly, I’m often just starstruck being around them.

The first season of MobLand ended with major events in June 2025: Richie Stevenson died, Conrad and Maeve Harrigan were arrested, Kevin Harrigan gained even more power, and Harry Da Souza was stabbed. Season 2 will focus on the fallout from these shocking occurrences.

In addition to Thomas Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren, and Brian Scanlan, the cast of MobLand includes Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Anson Boon, Jasmine Jobson, Mandeep Dhillon, Daniel Betts, Geoff Bell, Janet McTeer, Jordi Mollà, and Toby Jones.

Ronan Bennett is the creator of MobLand, a film that critics on Rotten Tomatoes have given a 76% rating. Guy Ritchie, the director of Snatch, is an executive producer on the project, along with Bennett, Hardy, David C. Glasser, Kris Thykier, Ivan Atkinson, Jez Butterworth, Dean Baker, Anthony Byrne, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, and Bob Yari.

A premiere date hasn’t been announced yet, but MobLand is expected to return sometime in 2026.
