McDonald’s is planning a limited-time return of a popular menu item it hasn’t offered for almost ten years, but it will only be available at a single location.
McDonald’s is a familiar place – you generally know what to expect on the menu. Like other fast food chains, they occasionally introduce special, limited-time items to keep things interesting.
McDonald’s has been experimenting with some fun and unusual menu items lately. For example, in the UK they offered ‘Grinch Fries,’ a mix of items from different countries, and even paired caviar with Chicken McNuggets for Valentine’s Day. In Canada, they collaborated with Frank’s RedHot sauce, which was a big hit on social media.
So, it looks like the chicken options are different depending on where you are in the world – some places don’t even have the same Chicken Selects we get here in the UK. But it seems like we’re getting lucky again, because the UK is about to get another exclusive treat! As a gamer, I always appreciate getting the special edition stuff first.
Chicken McBites set to return in UK
McDonald’s is rumored to be bringing back Chicken McBites in March, according to food reviewers in the UK, like Grumpy Northern Foodie.
I saw this TikTok video where someone was talking about the possible new menu items, and they said the popcorn chicken seemed like a move to compete with KFC’s. It definitely sounds like they’re aiming for that same audience!
Chicken McBites first came out in 2012, but were taken off the menu in most places worldwide by 2013. While they’ve been brought back for limited times in Australia and New Zealand, this would be their first reappearance in the UK in over ten years.
Plus, the popular McGriddle breakfast sandwich is expected to be part of this menu change. It was originally planned to launch in the UK in January, but problems with getting enough ingredients caused a delay.
Along with the return of Chicken McBites, McDonald’s is reportedly adding a new apple pie, Little Mac burger, Piri Piri shaker fries, and a McRoyal to the menu. It remains to be seen how long these items will be available.
