Amanda Seyfried believes Jennifer’s Body 2 makes sense after “cultural shifts”

Despite initially flopping in theaters, the horror-comedy Jennifer’s Body has become a beloved cult classic. Now, a sequel is in development, and star Amanda Seyfried has been sharing her thoughts on what it could be about.

When Jennifer’s Body came out in 2009, there was a lot of buzz around it. It was the first horror script from Diablo Cody, who had previously written the popular film Juno, and it featured Megan Fox, best known for her role in Transformers, trying her hand at comedy.

This movie, about a teenage girl who appears possessed and preys on high school boys, sparked conversations about sexism, how women are viewed, and broader gender issues. It tackled these topics with a clever and satirical script.

The movie initially received poor reviews and didn’t perform well in theaters. However, critics have since changed their opinion, and a new generation of fans has embraced it. This renewed interest has led to discussions about a possible sequel, and TopMob recently asked star Amanda Seyfried about it while she was promoting her show, ‘The Testament of Ann Lee’.

Karyn Kusama, director of Jennifer’s Body, revealed in October 2025 that Diablo Cody is currently writing the script for a sequel. She told The Hollywood Reporter she’s eager to see what Cody comes up with, hinting that it will be just as wild and entertaining as the original. Kusama is confident Cody will deliver something amazing.

Amanda Seyfried has expressed interest in participating, but only if Megan Fox joins the project. We asked if she’d discussed it with her co-star. Seyfried explained that she received a preliminary inquiry about a year or so ago. Someone reached out to gauge her interest, and she responded positively, noting that the project is a beloved ‘cult classic’.
