The show, which takes place in the world of Terminator created by James Cameron and Gale Anne Hurd, first premiered on August 29, 2024.
Mattson Tomlin, the creator and showrunner, has confirmed the show’s cancellation. He responded to a fan question by simply stating, “It was cancelled.” He later explained that despite positive reviews and a good reception from viewers, not enough people tuned in to justify another season. Tomlin also revealed he had ideas for a ‘Future War’ storyline that would have spanned seasons two and three.
Viewers expressed their frustration after Netflix cancelled the anime series Terminator Zero. One fan commented that Netflix seems willing to approve any anime project, but also quick to cancel them. Terminator Zero takes place in 1997 Tokyo and centers on scientist Malcolm Lee, who is creating an AI to rival Skynet, the system developed by Cyberdyne Systems. As his research progresses, a killer is sent from the future with the mission of killing him and his family.
