MCU: LEGO Just Spoiled Phase 6’s Big Villain Debut

Marvel’s upcoming Spider-Man movie, Brand New Day, which is part of Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will feature a particularly frightening villain. Marvel Studios has announced several returning villains for Phase 6, and Michael Mando will reprise his role as Scorpion in Brand New Day after not appearing since Homecoming nine years ago. Scorpion is just one of many villains set to appear in Spider-Man 4 this July, and the list of bad guys seems to be constantly expanding. Luckily, Spider-Man, played by Tom Holland, will have some allies in Jon Bernthal as the Punisher and Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk – though it’s possible one of them might cause more trouble than they’re worth.

A new LEGO set has revealed an upcoming showdown between Spider-Man and Hulk in an office building. This set will introduce Mark Ruffalo’s version of the Hulk as a villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) for the first time in Phase 6, as part of the Multiverse Saga. It marks the first time this version of the Hulk will be portrayed as a threat in live-action after a long absence from the MCU.

For a while now, fans have wondered if Hulk will unleash a truly frightening rampage in the upcoming Brand New Day storyline. According to insider Alex Perez, Hulk is reverting to his more brutal “Savage” form, and things could get dangerous – he might even take a life.

Over the years, the Hulk has clashed with various heroes, sometimes while being manipulated by others. He famously battled Thor twice – once in The Avengers under Loki’s control, and again years later on Sakaar in Thor: Ragnarok. In between those fights, Wanda Maximoff controlled the Hulk, leading to a showdown with Iron Man and his Hulkbuster armor in Johannesburg.

For about ten years within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, between the events of Thor: Ragnarok and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Bruce Banner’s angrier Hulk persona has remained surprisingly calm. He’s largely been in a combined form – Smart Hulk – which balances both sides of his personality. However, it looks like something or someone is about to bring the Hulk’s rage back to the surface.

Fans hoping for a first glimpse of the upcoming Spider-Man 4 trailer got an unexpected look at the new version of the Hulk through leaked merchandise. This suggests Hulk’s updated appearance might be revealed in promotional materials, rather than being a surprise kept for the movie itself, unless the merchandise reveal was simply premature.

Just before the original Avenger meets his fate, Bruce Banner has a new role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe: he’s a college professor, possibly at MIT. This is where Zendaya’s MJ and Jacob Batalon’s Ned Leeds were planning to go after the events of No Way Home.

Who Will Unleash Savage Hulk in Spider-Man: Brand New Day?

It’s been 14 years since Hulk last fully transformed on screen – ever since he said his famous line, “I’m always angry,” in The Avengers. Now, Marvel Studios has a chance to show Hulk transforming again in the upcoming movie Brand New Day, which is part of Phase 6. This could also set up potential future conflicts with Spider-Man and even Jon Bernthal’s Punisher.

There’s speculation that Sadie Sink’s character, who may have mind control abilities, could be the one to trigger the Hulk’s transformation and the resulting destruction in New York. Beyond the Hulk, Spider-Man will also be gaining a new power in the upcoming story arc, Brand New Day.

It’s still unclear which Marvel character the Stranger Things star will play when she joins the MCU, but many fans believe she’ll be Jean Grey, paving the way for the X-Men reboot in Phase 7. Since Jean Grey isn’t typically a villain, some speculate she might be a younger, inexperienced version of the character who hasn’t yet been trained by Charles Xavier, leading to an unintentional conflict.
