Minor spoilers for The Wrecking Crew are below!
Action movie fans have a lot to be excited about in 2026, with highly anticipated films like The Odyssey, Mortal Kombat II, and Avengers: Doomsday on the way. We’ll see familiar faces like Jason Statham in several action-packed movies, and fresh takes on classics like Masters of the Universe are coming out this summer. 2024 has already started strong with hits like The Rip, starring Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, which quickly became popular on Netflix. Now, Amazon Prime Video is joining the action with its new film, The Wrecking Crew.
The new Prime Video film stars Dave Bautista and Jason Momoa as long-lost half-brothers investigating their father’s death. It’s a funny action movie packed with exciting fight scenes, gun battles, and a fast-paced chase involving a helicopter and a van. While the movie definitely has the intense, R-rated action fans will expect, it also gets surprisingly graphic and violent, potentially more so than some viewers might be prepared for.
‘The Wrecking Crew’ Is Packed With Bloody Violence

Viewers going into The Wrecking Crew likely expect a lot of action, and the trailers give a good idea of what’s coming. However, the movie includes some surprisingly brutal moments that are particularly shocking. The action starts quickly with a fight at Momoa’s house against Yakuza members, and it’s immediately very violent, with characters being stabbed and seriously injured. While the fight choreography is good, certain scenes stand out for their extreme violence. One of the most disturbing moments happens when Momoa’s character scrapes a cheese grater across someone’s arm and then slams their face into a table, causing a horrific injury.
Bautista’s character, James, is shown brutally taking down opponents in several scenes, including a fierce hallway fight reminiscent of the film Oldboy. He even kills an important character by impaling them with a sword, then cruelly twists the blade. One of the most disturbing scenes involves James entering a sex shop to obtain security footage. When the manager refuses to cooperate, James attacks an innocent employee—a worker behind the counter who hasn’t done anything wrong—and violently yanks out his nipple piercings, inflicting a shocking amount of pain.
In The Wrecking Crew, there’s an intense chase where a helicopter attacks the main characters as they race down a highway in a minivan. The chase quickly escalates with motorcyclists joining in, firing at the van. In a shocking moment, Momoa pulls one of the riders from a motorcycle, and the van runs over his arm, detaching it. Simultaneously, James grabs another gunman and slams his head against the road, destroying the helmet and causing a spray of blood.

Although The Wrecking Crew isn’t as intensely gory as movies like Saw, its action sequences often prioritize humor, even during fights. This can make the violence surprisingly shocking. The film feels like a throwback to older action movies, bringing a dose of thrilling, bloody action to 2026. It doesn’t ruin the movie, but viewers unprepared for its occasional graphic moments might be surprised by how intense it gets.
