Florida teen arrested after allegedly assaulting mom with a pork chop

A teenager in Florida was arrested after allegedly hitting her mother with a pork chop during an argument at their home in Jensen Beach.

On January 22nd, a Martin County Sheriff’s Office deputy went to a home after receiving a report of a disagreement between a mother and her teenage daughter, according to the official police report.

Police have identified the person involved as 18-year-old Farrah Kernan. According to reports, Kernan had consumed alcohol earlier that day, and an argument inside the house led to the incident.

Deputy says video showed slap and food residue supported claim

Okay, so from what I’ve read, Kernan’s mom, Cynthia Ann Kernan, told the police that her daughter actually hit her – right in the face with her right hand. And get this, a friend who was there filmed the whole thing! She turned the video over to the police as evidence, which is pretty wild.

According to the deputy’s report, the video plainly shows Farrah Kernan hitting Cynthia Kernan in the face with her right hand, which caused Cynthia to flinch back. The video stops right after the hit.

Cynthia explained to investigators that her daughter had previously thrown a pork chop at her. A deputy confirmed this by noticing food on Cynthia’s shoulder that appeared to match her story.

According to the deputy, Farrah Kernan seemed confused and her statements didn’t match the facts of the alleged assault. She reportedly became upset, started yelling and crying, and refused to cooperate with authorities.

After reviewing video, physical evidence, and witness statements, the deputy determined there was enough evidence to charge Kernan with domestic battery. She was arrested and taken to the Martin County Jail without any problems.
