As an experienced financial analyst, I have closely followed the OneCoin saga with great interest. The recent announcement by the U.S. government offering a $5 million reward for information leading to the arrest or conviction of Ruja Ignatova, also known as Cryptoqueen, adds another layer of intrigue to this complex case.

The US authorities have boosted the prize for credible tips leading to the location of OneCoin’s co-founder, Ruja Ignatova, to a value of $5 million.

The U.S. Department of State and the American Embassy in Bulgaria have announced through an official statement that a reward of $5 million will be given to anyone providing information that leads to the apprehension or prosecution of Ignatova, also referred to as Cryptoqueen.

As a researcher investigating the latest development in the Cryptoqueen case, I find myself intrigued by this new reward announcement from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). This significant increase in reward money from the previously announced $250,000 has fueled rumors and raised questions about the authenticity of the long-standing speculation that Cryptoqueen was murdered back in 2018.

U.S. Places $5M Reward on Cryptoqueen

As a researcher, I’d put it this way: I’ve uncovered some disturbing information about a woman known as Cryptoqueen. She’s wanted by the FBI in the US for masterminding what could be one of the largest international fraud schemes ever. Several of her accomplices have been caught and punished, but she remains at large. Since 2022, she’s graced the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives List.

A 44-year-old individual with Bulgarian origins but German citizenship established OneCoin in 2014 and marketed it as a cryptocurrency investment, employing deceitful statements and misrepresentations. By 2017, the so-called “Cryptoqueen” had swindled investors out of over $4 billion through this Ponzi scheme.

In late 2017, investigators arrived seeking Ignatova, leading her to leave Bulgaria and hide in Greece to avoid capture. US and German officials have brought charges against Ignatova for alleged fraud and money laundering. Bulgarian authorities are planning to indict her soon, initiating the process of seizing any ill-gotten assets she may hold.

Dead or Alive?

In the ongoing pursuit of Cryptoqueen, whispers abound that she has undergone plastic surgery to change her look. She is reportedly traveling with a team of armed guards and companions. The FBI suspects that she might be utilizing a German passport for trips to nations such as the United Arab Emirates, Russia, and Eastern Europe.

As a researcher, I uncovered some intriguing information last year concerning the alleged demise of Cryptoqueen, the enigmatic figure behind OneCoin. Rumors swirled that Bulgarian drug lord Hristoforos Amanatidis, commonly known as Taki, had orchestrated her murder. The sources I consulted asserted that he instructed a hitman to dismember Ignatova and cast her remains into the Ionian Sea – an effort to eliminate any connection to the OneCoin fraud and the ensuing fallout.

Since 2018, the BBC team responsible for The Missing Cryptoqueen podcast has received information regarding the whereabouts of Cryptoqueen. Despite a failed attempt to arrest her in Greece in 2022, there’s a possibility that reports of her death are merely an attempt to mislead national law enforcement agencies.
