After two years, xQc achieved a new personal best time in Minecraft speedrunning on January 20, 2026. However, he still didn’t beat Forsen’s longstanding record.
While streaming late at night, xQc finished Minecraft in Any% mode in just 16 minutes and 10 seconds – his quickest time since 2023. This was his first personal best in over two years, proving that his dedicated practice is still paying off even after hundreds of hours trying to beat the record.
Despite the effort, the attempt didn’t quite match Forsen’s record of 15:28, set back in October 2023. That time still stands as the best and remains a key moment in their five-year competition.
xQc comes close to overtaking Forsen, but not close enough
The run on January 20th started well, but problems towards the end cost xQc a potential record. He had trouble with where blazes spawned in the Nether and lost valuable time trying to get into position to fight the Ender Dragon. By the time he was ready, it was too late to beat the record.
Viewers immediately reacted to the speedrun, with many believing the attempt failed much sooner. Several pointed out that xQc spent nearly a minute circling a stronghold before deciding to search for the End portal.
xQc disagreed with the criticism during his livestream, explaining that changing the route didn’t really impact his final time. He believes the outcome depended mostly on random chance, things he couldn’t control.
Once xQc achieved a personal best, he kept playing Minecraft for several more hours, hoping to repeat his success while things were going well. However, none of his later tries came anywhere near his new time of 16:10, or even Forsen’s best of 15:28.
Recent achievements have reignited the rivalry between xQc and Forsen, even though Forsen hasn’t played the game since 2023. xQc has shown he can still get better after a long break, but he still hasn’t surpassed Forsen’s incredibly strong performance from 2023.
