Free demo for Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties launches on January 21

Sega will release a free demo for Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties on January 21st. Players on Steam (PC) can start playing at 7 PM PST, and console players (PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2) will be able to access it at 9 PM PST.

Although the demo doesn’t let you carry over progress or offer a completion reward, it does feature both the updated Yakuza 3 content and the new ‘Dark Ties’ story with Yoshitaka Mine.

The announcement from Sega can be found below.

Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties will be available on February 12th for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC (via Steam). If you’re interested, you can now watch new karaoke videos from the remastered game, featuring both English and Japanese songs.

SEGA revealed today that a free demo for the new Yakuza game, Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties, will be available starting tomorrow, January 21, 2026. The demo will first launch on Steam at 7 a.m. Pacific Time, and then on consoles – PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 – at 9 p.m. Pacific Time.

This free demo lets you try out both action-adventure games included in this two-in-one beat ‘em up.

  • Yakuza Kiwami 3 lets you play as Kazuma Kiryu in the vibrant setting of Okinawa, Ryukyu. You’ll fight enemies using two distinct combat styles – the powerful Dragon of Dojima and a weapon-focused Ryukyu style – and enjoy a variety of side activities like karaoke, engaging side quests, and customizing Kiryu’s appearance.

  • Dark Ties offers a brand-new story starring Yoshitaka Mine, letting players explore Kamurocho and take on various side quests. Players will also experience Mine’s unique shoot-boxing fighting style to defeat enemies with flair.

Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties will be available on February 12, 2026 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. You can pre-order the game and find the latest information on the official Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties website.
