According to reports, Mark Ruffalo won’t be appearing as the Hulk in Marvel Studios’ upcoming film, Avengers: Doomsday. This highly anticipated movie, scheduled for release in late 2026, is set to be the largest Marvel Cinematic Universe project since Avengers: Endgame. It will bring together Earth’s heroes to face a new villain – Victor von Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr. – but the team will have to do it without the Hulk. The question is, will the Fantastic Four, X-Men, Thor, Shang-Chi, Ant-Man, Black Panther, and Captain America be strong enough to win?
I just read an interesting interview with Mark Ruffalo in Empire Magazine. He confirmed he won’t be in the upcoming Doomsday film, but he’s still feeling good about his future with Marvel. He actually said that as long as they have great ideas for the Hulk, he’s in! He even joked that The Avengers helped him land a role in Crime 101! It got me thinking though – with him not in Doomsday, could this mean the Hulk is in real trouble in Spider-Man: Brand New Day this summer? It definitely makes you wonder what’s going on!
During an appearance on Jimmy Fallon’s talk show, actor Mark Ruffalo was asked about being left out of last year’s cast video for the blockbuster film Doomsday. The video showed a long line of chairs, each with a cast member’s name. Ruffalo jokingly responded that the filmmakers thought it was better to exclude him than risk him accidentally revealing plot details about the next movie.
Ruffalo is No Stranger to Marvel Spoilers

Marvel Studios
Mark Ruffalo’s tendency to accidentally reveal plot details, as he did on Fallon, isn’t new. Throughout his time playing the Hulk, he’s become known for spoiling upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe projects. A year before Avengers: Infinity War was released, he famously let slip the shocking ‘snap’ twist – the moment Thanos eliminates half of all life. He quickly tried to take it back, but his co-star Don Cheadle was so frustrated he refused to participate in interviews with Ruffalo after that.
While Mark Ruffalo accidentally revealing the first twenty minutes of Thor: Ragnarok during its premiere is a strong contender, the biggest Marvel spoiler actually came from Anthony Russo, who let slip Steve Rogers’ fate in Endgame by excitedly announcing, “He gets married in this!” Ruffalo had been live-streaming the red carpet event on Facebook and inadvertently kept the broadcast going when he put his phone away, giving eager fans an early listen to the movie’s beginning until he noticed his mistake.

Mark Ruffalo recently shared that after accidentally revealing a plot detail on The Graham Norton Show, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige actually thanked him. The leak generated a huge amount of publicity for the film.
