Get ready! Euphoria is officially returning to HBO. After a hugely popular second season four years ago, the show is back with a new season premiering on April 12th. The trailer shows Rue, Nate, Cassie, Maddy, and the rest of the group all grown up, several years after graduating high school. As Zendaya’s character, Rue, says in the teaser, life hasn’t necessarily gone as planned, but she’s finally starting to feel hopeful.
The trailer then quickly shows each of the main characters and what they’ve been up to. Nate and Cassie are engaged, and Cassie is creating online content that prominently features her body. Jules is living a luxurious life in a beautiful home, and Maddy is insisting she’s not involved with anyone for financial support.
Rue is facing increasingly serious trouble. Her old drug supplier, Laurie, wants the money Rue owes her, and the trailer ends with a tense scene: someone, played by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (from Lost), attempting to shoot an apple off Rue’s head. It’s clear things have escalated far beyond typical high school problems.
