2026 is shaping up to be an amazing year for gaming, and we’ve put together a list of our top 5 most anticipated titles. You might recognize a few on the list, but we’re still incredibly excited to play them all. So, without further delay, here are our picks for the top 5 games of 2026.
What Are Our Top 5 Most Anticipated Games of 2026?
1. Grand Theft Auto VI – Most Anticipated Games of 2026
- Releases: November 2026
- Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5
It’s obvious that the next Grand Theft Auto game from Rockstar will be the most popular release. After more than 13 years since the last installment, GTA VI has been highly anticipated for a long time.
The game, originally planned for release in 2025, has been delayed and is now expected in November 2026. It’s been about eight months since we last heard any updates, which is causing some worry that the release date might be pushed back again. However, despite any potential further delays, fans are still eagerly anticipating the next installment in the series.
Okay, so in Grand Theft Auto VI, we’re heading back to Vice City! This time, it’s different – I get to play as two characters, Jason and Lucia. Their story is basically a modern “Bonnie and Clyde” thing – they’re a couple caught up in crime. It all kicks off when a robbery goes south, and they have to fight to survive and build their empire. It sounds like their connection will be a huge part of the story, and it’s going to be intense!
2. Resident Evil Requiem – Most Anticipated Games of 2026
- Releases: February 2026
- Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, PC
The ninth major Resident Evil game is the first new entry since 2021’s Village. This time, the action takes place in the ruined city of Raccoon City, after a nuclear disaster, rather than in haunted castles or caves.
The Resident Evil series gained renewed popularity with the release of Resident Evil 7. Switching to a first-person perspective made the game much scarier and attracted new players. However, Capcom also successfully remade classic titles like Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4, keeping the traditional third-person gameplay that fans loved.
Resident Evil Requiem smartly lets you switch between playing in first-person and third-person perspectives, giving you the freedom to experience the game however you prefer.
In RE Requiem, you take on the role of Grace Ashcroft, an FBI technical analyst tasked with investigating a series of deaths at the Wrenwood Hotel in Raccoon City. Leon Kennedy also returns, appearing for the first time since Resident Evil 6. Their investigations will likely cross paths as they work to uncover the source of the unfolding chaos.
3. The Duskbloods – Most Anticipated Games of 2026
- Releases: 2026
- Platform(s): Nintendo Switch 2
FromSoftware, the team behind popular games like Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Elden Ring, has done it again with Duskbloods, immediately capturing players’ attention. While details are still scarce since the game’s announcement, anticipation is already building.
Hidetaka Miyazaki consistently delivers excellent video games, and with two decades of directing experience, he’s a highly respected figure in the industry. His studio, FromSoftware, has once again created a compelling and enjoyable game in the ‘souls-like’ genre.
In Duskbloods, you play as characters similar to vampires, called Bloodsworn. The game offers both player-versus-environment and player-versus-player combat for up to eight players. This means, unlike Elden Ring Nightreign, you’ll be facing off against real opponents.
4. Marvel’s Wolverine – Most Anticipated Games of 2026
- Releases: 2026
- Platform(s): PlayStation 5
Insomniac Games consistently creates fantastic superhero games. While I’m not the biggest fan of the story in Marvel’s Spider-Man, the way the game plays is incredible. I have high hopes that their upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine game will be just as fun.
The new Wolverine game was first revealed back in 2021, and fans have been eagerly awaiting more information. We finally saw a glimpse of gameplay last year, but many story details remain unknown. However, we expect to learn more as the game’s release approaches.
I’m particularly struck by how much more blood there is in this game compared to Marvel’s Spider-Man and its follow-ups. Those games didn’t show anything this graphic. We appreciate this shift in tone, as it fits the character’s more mature storyline.
5. Directive 8020 – Most Anticipated Games of 2026
- Releases: 2026
- Platform(s): PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC
The team behind Until Dawn is back with Directive 8020, the latest installment in The Dark Pictures Anthology. However, Supermassive Games isn’t calling this a new season of the series—it’s a standalone experience.
If you’ve played games like Until Dawn or the Dark Pictures Anthology, you’ll have a good idea of what to expect here. These games let you play alone or with friends, controlling five characters in a spooky environment. As you play, the choices you make can affect how those characters interact with each other.
Certain choices you make can have deadly consequences, and you’ll sometimes need to react quickly with timed actions to stay alive. In Directive 8020, the dangers are even more frequent. To help with this, each character has a special wrist device that can detect and protect them from threats.
Those are our top 5 most-anticipated games for 2026. We’re excited about many other upcoming titles, and we’re hoping 2026 will be a great year for gamers.
