Resident Evil Fans, Brace Yourselves For January 15

Although Resident Evil: Requiem isn’t out for another six weeks, fans have a closer date to anticipate. Capcom previously announced a Resident Evil showcase in January to reveal more about the upcoming ninth main game, and now the date for that showcase has been confirmed.

A new trailer posted on the official Resident Evil YouTube channel announced that the Resident Evil showcase will be held on Thursday, January 15th at 2 PM Pacific Time / 5 PM Eastern Time. The trailer quickly shows glimpses of the two main characters, Grace Ashcroft and Leon S. Kennedy, in action, and also features a short clip of the game’s director, Koshi Nakanishi.

The Resident Evil Showcase Could Answer Some Big Questions

More About The Magnum, Please

The latest preview hints the game will feature exciting combat, and there are still some surprises in store. We already know Leon will use a hatchet, but it’s unclear how effective it will be compared to the classic knives from the Resident Evil series. The trailer does show him skillfully blocking attacks with it, much like the parrying system in Resident Evil 4.

The presentation could also highlight the game’s version of the Magnum revolver, which is featured prominently in the teaser image, a short gameplay clip, and a scene of Grace examining it. A red bullet shown next to the gun in the teaser might hint at a connection to the idea of a cure found in blood, similar to what was seen in Resident Evil 6. Alternatively, it could be a subtle nod to Ada Wong, a character often associated with the color red.

The upcoming showcase for Resident Evil Requiem likely won’t reveal anything as significant as Leon S. Kennedy’s return, so don’t expect huge surprises on January 15th. However, we might learn more about how Leon fits into the story or get a better understanding of the game’s villains.

It’s Time To Find Out More About Requiem

If You Want To, That Is

Most Resident Evil showcases are around 30 minutes long, meaning it won’t take up too much of your time to watch, unless it conflicts with work or school. You can choose to learn everything about the game beforehand or go in knowing as little as possible – it’s up to you! Many fans, however, are eagerly searching for any little detail they can find.

If you want to stay spoiler-free, it’s best to avoid social media on Thursday. Otherwise, this is your last chance to find out everything about Resident Evil Requiem before it comes out on February 27th.
